Shark527 0
Been playing more shootouts lately trying to satellite. Since you have to win the table to advance would it be correct strategy to take coin flips and push marginal edges to your advantage? Any thoughts about shootout strategy would be great. copernicus 0
Actually my strategy is pretty much the opposite. I play very tight and let the others fight it out, and hope cards keep my stack competitive. If not then I go into push-bot mode and hope to double up late. I also focus on the 2d place and lower stacks that are usually fairly close to each other in the middle of the tourney. They tighten up a bit because the dont want to fall too far behind chip leader. The whole basis of the above is that Im very confident in my HU game, even from a smallish starting stack (say 1/3 of CLs). So if I focus on getting HU without taking bit risks to become CL, Im going to win more than my share. And then there are those nice times when you hit a couple of big hads and become CL with 2 or 3 other players, and you can use position and stack size very effectively to chip up slowly, and let the other guys fight out the big pots.
