daniel ...just wonder what has been going on lately. when i first started reading your articles ... way back in the day before the new website ... you were always joking around and happy about something ... now it seems like you're out for blood ... challangeing everyone ???why do that man ... do you really have that much to prove ... as far as most of us here are concerned you're one of the top pros of all time ... what happens if the math does shift for some reason and you go on a losing streak ... through no fault of your own ... just other people playing poorly and catching lucky cards ... come on man ... you don't have to prove anything to anyone ... noone here does ... i don't know if you've played any "bad" players lately but there are some guys out there that will play 9-2 and 8-5 etc etc ... and they suck people out all the time ... anyway ... you gotta do what you gotta do but it just seems like you're going overboard ... its good you believe in yourself but damn dude .... thats alot of balls hanging out in the air ...matt :club:

ok, stay with me now: Daniel is on contract to the Wynn Las Vegas Casino. His duties include promoting poker at and for said casino. Daniel gets paid by the Wynn to promote poker. All of the HU matches will be played at the Wynn, or Wynn properties. The heads-up challenge has, and will continue to, bring the Wynn publicity you couldnt pay for. Steve Wynn happy makes Daniel happy (and wealthy).

I hope you aren't serious, but I have a feeling you might be.He's not doing it to prove anything, he's doing it because he likes competition, and it's good pub. for the Wynn. and without being able to go play in the big game, he needs to bring them to him.And he's the one who plays those 8-5 type of hands, so I sure hope you are joking, either that or know a little more before you post something like this.

I though most people who compete like to compete with the best and of course beat them ? What am I missing, probably nothing....

If you want to laugh your a.s.s. off. Re-read the OP and pretend its Keanu Reeves talking to Daniel. Its killing me!!!!!!p.s. I hate people who are willing to go broke with 8-5. They pay me so much money it hurts my own feelings.

DN is the poker frontman for a brand-new $2.7 billion property. That's just the teeniest bit of pressure, I would say. He's taking a risk with the challenge, but the rewards are great for both him and the Wynn.

ok ... i guess you all know more than me ... and i'm sorry i didn't ask you all first ... but the idea was that maybe i could get an answer from him ... that may have had something to do with the way i worded it huh ... i know he plays 8-5 an other such hands ... so i promise not to bother you all with posts in the forum anymore ...by the way if you think wynn is gonna put up seveal million dollars against the best the game has to offer in their game of choice i think you need to consider your opinion again ...

A few million dollars for good advertising is nothing if the Wynn thinks it will bring in enough business to offset the costs. Plus do you think DN is really that outclassed by the specialists?

$2M for a $3B property, even $20M is chump change...This is a great promotion. DN won't lose every match, DN won't win every match... probably 60/40 DNWhatever the HU outcome, WYNN makes money, the PROs make money...I wouldn't be surprised to hear (and we never will) that DN has a struck a deal where the WYNN stakes all the games and he gets to keep half the winnings per match...Build the business to fill the new poker room... then add a second room once the first room's profit is MAX'd

don't you think it would make more sense to bring in the 4/8 and 8/16 game players by paying him to sit down at those games ... sure having some pros play some heads up matches would be fun to watch ... but do you think that its gonna bring in more than 20 million in business ... binions has been all that is poker since the start of the WSOP and i can walk in there almost any time and get a table ... it doesn't fill their seats to have them in there one month out of a year. people go to bellagio because anyone could be there anytime ... just a thoughtmatt :club:

I think part of the idea is that when you have these heads up matches, people will come to watch. Regular poker fans. Then they go and play some 4/8 or 8/16 or higher stakes while they're at the Wynn. I don't think they're just trying to bring in people specifically to play in these matches thus creating business, they're just pumping up the publicity, thus creating business. It's a very good excuse to go check out the newest cardroom in Vegas.
