Wsop Mixed Plhe / Plo Structure

Recommended Posts

If I had to venture a guess, would it have something to do with the amount of action each game induces? Deeper structure for the omaha section so people can actually make plays without committing themselves?

Correct- in PLO the bet is much more likely to be the full pot, so the structure allows for much more play in the omaha round.

I play H/A cash games a fair amount, and i think a significant strategy point of that specific mixed game is being able to rob the omaha players who tighten up during hold em, and get value from the hold em players who commit too many chips in PLO.

Ive only ever played HA on ft and they dont use this structure. However, after seeing the wsop structure, i think i llike the wsop one better. Never played tho be4 to experience whether it is better. Love to hear daniels thoughts on this

QFT... would love to hear what daniel thinks... but imo this structure is retarded.

Obviously someone on the advisory board thought this was a good idea. This seems like a unique structure. I can see on the surface why you would want to equalize the two games, but completely disagree with it.

Pot Limit Omaha plays MUCH bigger than a game like Pot Limit Hold'em with no ante. It's absolutely essential in a mixed game format to adjust the blinds accordingly, otherwise the pot limit hold'em portion of play becomes much less significant. Frankly, I still think this event is essentially a PLO event with a touch of PLH. For the no limit hold'em in the mixed game format we had an easier adjustment and that was just adding a very large ante, the size of the small blind, with the same blind structure as PLO. For example:PLO 200-400 blindsNLH 200-400 blinds (200 ante) This is how it's always been done in the big game and the mixed game championship is designed to replicate the big game. The structures for all of this year's events are much improved and I made sure not to let anything slide.
