Pack149 0
So, this whole trip for me was very spur of the moment for me. I had to call my mother on Tuesday, and she told me that she had a friend with travel vouchers that had to be used by mid Feb. and she asked if I wanted them. I took them and was trying to figure out what I was going to do with them. My uncle called me later that day and told me that he heard about my vouchers and he was going to Vegas this weekend for a business meeting and he wanted to know if I wanted to go. Of course, I told him yes, and we got the travel details settled. We flew out early Saturday morning. Southwest has some new boarding procedure, and I got the last window seat on the plane. It all worked out well, the flight was easy. We land in Vegas, and the line for taxis is incredibly long. We sneak around the the drop off area and try to get a taxi over there, but a cop standing there told us we needed to go back to the other line. We decide to just take a shuttle because it would be cheaper. On the way, we got a good look at Monte Carlo, and that place is going to need a hell of a paint job. We get to the Flamingo, and we check into our rooms and head to the sports book. I want to look around Vegas and find a good card tournament before I start going crazy at the tables. We look around, and decide to put our first bet down on BC for 20 dollars. I should know better than to bet teams that I hate, but I do it anyway. Well, I lost my first bet, and I decide to look to see if there are any other games I like. I decide to make a two game parlay with Tulane at -1.5 over ECU and Georgetown at +1 at West Virginia for 20 dollars. After many beers and sweating Georgetown to the final minute, I win my first wager in Vegas for 72 dollars. We spend the rest of the night cruising the casinos around, and I am looking for the best tournament for the money. We go to Bally's, Caesers Palace, Bellagio, Planet Hollywood, and Bills Gambling Hall. Many drinks later, we decide to call it a night. On Sunday morning, we go to breakfast and stop by the sports book to pick up the college basketball lines for the day. I decide to place bets on Clemson at -1 straight up against Miami, a two game parlay with Clemson and Xavier at -2 against Umass, and a four game parlay with Clemson, Xavier, Georgia Tech at +4 at UVa, and Duke at -5 against UMd. Since Clemson decided to fart around the last 3 minutes of the game, I lost all bets, and lost 50 dollars that I put total on the games. We decide to go downtown to see some of the older casinos. We start by going to Binions to look around. We see the Wall of Champions, which is pretty cool to see live. We go to the sports book to watch some of the games. The next stop was the Golden Nugget, where I stopped by the poker room to see their tournament schedule. After some more browsing down Freedmont Street, we decide to go back to the Flamingo. After a quick lunch, my uncle had to go to his business meeting, and I go Planet Hollywood to play their 60 dollar tournament.I chose the Planet Hollywood tournament because it was the best structure for the cheapest amount of money I could find. It was a 60 dollar tournament with rebuys in the first hour if you bust out, if there are no alternatives. The structure was kinda fast, but with 4k starting chips and 20 minute levels, it was pretty good considering the buy in. The very first hand I play, I limp with AJoff in late position and see a flop of J86. It gets around to a guy in early position who bets out 450. I am the only one to call and the turn was a 6. He pushes all in, and I call like a donkey. He shows JJ and I am to the counter for a rebuy. With no alternates, I am moved to a different table. At the 50/100 level, I get 77 in middle position. I raise it up to 250 and get four callers. The flop comes K97. I am first to act, and I lead out for 1,000. I get one caller directly to my left and we see a turn card of a 10. I bet 1,750 and he calls again. I put him on a pair and a draw, and I see a the final 7 fall on the river, which completes a flush draw. I move in for about 1,400, and he instafolds. He said that he had top pair, but I dont know if I believe him. I play one more inconsequential hand before the first break, and I have ~8500 at the break and I get moved to a new table. I have two local players to my left and right, and they are the only players I am worried about at the table. The first and after the break with the blinds at 200-400, I raise to 1,200 KQ in late position and the player on the button reraises me to 2,400 after fumbling with chips and not putting the full raise in. I call and we see a flop of 659. He bets 500 and I hate it. I call only because there is 4,500 in the pot. The turn is a 10 and he checks and I check behind. The river is a queen. He checks to me and I ask him how much he has behind, which he replies about 1500. I bet 1500 and he calls with A3. I have to hold back my laughter at the way he played the hand. A couple of hands later, a short stack limps in the cutoff with maybe 4 bbs in his stack. Im in the BB with J8 soooooooted and I check my option. The flop comes A85, all of clubs. I ask the guy how much he has, and he shoves all in out of turn. I have no idea where I am at, so I fold showing him the 8, and he shows me the K of clubs. I think he either had AK or the flush already. I dont have a single hand for a couple of rounds. Later on, I cant remember the blinds, I raise in late position with QJ and one of the locals calls me. The flop comes KK7 and I make a continuation bet. He thinks for about 90 seconds and folds, turning to me and saying that he knows I didnt have a king. He was right. I play one more hand before the break, and I dont even remember what I had. The lady two to my right calls my raise. I continuation bet and she called. I check folded because I didnt have anything, and she showed that she most likely had me crushed. At the next break, we were down to 15 players, and I had a top five stack or close to it. I didnt really play a hand until we got down ten handed. The local that I had played with in the QJ hand got busted in 10th. Eight places paid, and we made a deal that everyone would put 10 dollars in for the bubble boy. On the very next hand, we had our bubble boy who lost a coinflip to the chip leader. Two more people busted in quick succession and we were down to six handed. I was getting short stacked, I was lucky enough to pick up aces at the 3,000-6,000 level. I had about 35,000, and I raised it up to 15,000, intending to shove any flop. The tricky woman called my bet and we saw a flop of T72. I shoved and she called with AJ. I held up and was in business. I then went on a serious run of shitty cards, and I got down to four handed. I had blinded back down to 40k or so. The big stack had been raising every time I was on the button, not allowing me to have any maneuvering room. When he finally folded when I was on the button, I shoved on the two shorter stacks with J7. The sb beat me into the pot with AK. The flop came J54 and the sb wasnt able to catch up. We play a few rounds of three handed, and I get abused by the big stack and the deck. The blinds are at 6k-12k and the other guy busts. I have about 4bbs, and the chip leader offers me an extra 80 bucks to walk away. Considering the stacks and the structure, I take the deal. I get 650 for second and he gets about 1,100 for first. After getting a quick bite to eat and trying to figure out what to do, I decide to enter the same tournament at 7PM. Michael Mizarchi (sp?) and Robert Mizarchi had come into the room looking for a 5-5NL game, but were unable to get one going. This one didnt go as well, where I busted early on. I again limped AJ in late position and saw a flop of QT9. A guy who was lucky to still be there bets out 700 and I call and so does the sb. The turn was an 8, and the originial bettor pushes, I call, and so does the sb. The original bettor shows KJ, the sb shows J3 and I am dead to a K. The river was a blank, and I was done. I go to check the line of alternates, and I probably wouldnt get back in. I decide to spend the rest of the night drinking and partying. I flew out the next day, and my flight was overbooked. Since I was flying by myself, I decide to give up my seat and get travel vouchers. Another way I left Vegas out on top.

Potsie P 0
Good report and nice cash. I've only played two tourneys at PH and bombed in both of them. Nice cardroom, though. Funny that the Grinder was there...there's another thread right now about him walking away from $700K for not appearing there enough. Kinda tough if there are never games going. Anyway, thanks for the writeup.
