dna4ever 2
How do you all respond to people who chat or try to make conversation when playing in a game online? I love to talk when I'm playing but I think most people find it annoying.Always fun to use some Rounders references to try and make yourself look like a total newb ...dna4ever: its been 30 minutes and I havent spotted the sucker at the table yet, crap!Another one of my favorites ...Dealer: Game #1018244944: dna4ever wins pot ($1.90)dna4ever: 5263 more pots like that and i got my seat at the wsopSo does this just annoy the hell out of people or are most people cool with it? I guess if you have a real problem you can always turn off player/observer chat.
Spidurman 0
I chat if there's a reason to - usually with friends sweating me or vice versa. I have no problems chatting while playing - I'm used to it. If someone not used to it is distracted, advantage me
halvey7 0
I always talk at the table, normally people don't talk back tho, lol
banker2005 0
Well when I play online I will usually disable player chat because I find it distracting.
coonhunter1 0
dna4ever: I was at your table when you made that comment. Pokerstars 50$ no limit. I laughed. I enjoy talking when I play and having fun unless someone is being a jerk and then I just keep quiet until he is done.
DPD2K5 0
Usually when i'm playing onine I try not to pay too much attention to the conversations that are going on. But if someone wants to chime in with a few corny jokes, who cares? If someone if really annoying me i'll just turn the chat off

It's social, and even for those of you who play for a living, if you can't have fun at work, then why go? Online, if it bothers you, turn off the chat...

scweeber 0
my best buddy and i often watch each other while playing poker online (through Ultimate Buddy) and we have a GREAT time... this doesn't happen often but when someone at the table starts talking smack ("what the h*ell are you doing calling my $4 pre-flop raise with 8-5 off, idiot!") we subtly mock him for the rest of the time he's at the table... usually the guy goes on tilt, loses, and we call each other on the phone laughing about how we have both been laughing for the past hour straight... fun times i NEVER critcize other people's play (in person, at least) but when someone starts running their mouth (or in this case, their keyboard) it's a lot of fun to laugh at their expense.one more thing, how many other aggresive players - such as myself - have ever heard something like this before: "when you actually learn something about poker by reading a book you'll know that you should NEVER play that hand to a raise?" Slayre 0
I normally ignore chat.. but try to be cordial when people are cordial to me.. ie, nh, ty, good play.. nice bet, stuff like that...Once, on Absolute.. I felt froggy and called BB with 64o from middle position... no raises before or after me.. flopped a FH and slow played it for a dbl up... dude was outright flabbergasted as to why I played those 3 cards.. said I should write a book on dumb plays, some other things.. never got outright cruel... I admitted it was not the smartest move, but, it was early and the blinds were low, and I just got lucky, I said it happens to the best of us.... and he thought I meant me.... said, oh so your the best... heh.. no I was referring to you... that crap happens to me all the time.. anyway.. was fun egging him on a lil, and I think he knew i wasn't trying to be a jerk... then about 3 hands latre.. his A's got cracked and he was gone... maxstud 0
after winning a couple of hands i always say, looks like im the best player here!! that usually gets a few ppl chatting with me, not always real friendly though
maxone22 0
I figure I have the option to mute if its annoying. I used to engage in conversation regularly, but have recently changed tactics. Sometimes the intentions are lost through the medium, causing misunderstandings or hard feelings. To me, it seems as if there are far more engaging in trash-talking or just plain outright nastiness. A distraction I just don't need.I usually keep it open and watch however. Gather what info I can.Occassionally there is a good one that I just can't help but respond to.
