Heckler's Week On Pad

Is there a particular reason for that? Why should a winning hand be shown down?Presumably he can still show after we muck if that's an important requirement. I can't think of a reason to hold onto cards unless we had some hope of showing them down.
A winning hand should be shown down because if I flip over my cards, to win the hand, he would HAVE to flip them. I see your point, and I'm not 100% saying I'm right, just how I've always played, that's all. By the rules, I know I am wrong.

OMG. Are we REALLY still arguing about this? It looks pretty cut and dry to me, so can we just move on to the new episode. New episode: Sam's still fuckin' funny!

Yes, boss. And Grizzle is annoying as shit, not to mention a broke scumbag who acts like he has done something, when in fact, he's done nothing.

Pretty much because a winning hand should be shown down. When the showdown comes, it's my turn to show my cards. I could flip over my losing hand and MAKE you show. When I tap the table, I'm basically saying "Good call, you got me. If I flip up my cards, you win. If I don't flip them up, you win. Please just flip yours over to save me the shame of showing mine."
or you could just muck yours and that's that. Phil just wanted to see the cards thats all. You dont have to show yours, you have the option of mucking. JRB was saying I'm not doing it to shame you but to conceal information. I think not wanting to show your cards but making big scene about not seeing the other persons is the only poor etiquette to be found in that situation.

I already replied to all of this a few posts back, but needless to say I am not disagreeing with anything you say here.

Yawn... show, don't show... its been beaten to death here. All opinions heard and over disucssed. There have been quite a few other interesting things this week on PAD including the stories, and the fact that Gavin can be fun to watch whether he is drunk or not. I personally would like to hear more Stuey stories from Sam.

I gotta agree with you, plenty of more interesting things to talk about from the show than just that hand.

This isn't exactly what I expected Ciaffone to say.

Bob Ciaffone emailed me the following answer:I will give you my answer and give you permission to post it.After Player A bets on the end and player B calls, the winning hand must be shown. If Player A wishes to muck instead of showing, this does not change the above rule. Player B wins a "called hand" pot and must show his cards before receiving it. The opponent and anyone else in the game are entitled to see it.(screenshot of email for any skeptics, with my email address cut out)

I don't see how this could be the case, but I digress. It's a moot point, though, really cuz even though JRB wanted Phil to muck so he didn't have to show, it IS still on Phil to do one of the 2 actions (show or muck) first anyways, even if the ruling is made that JRB does have to still show.

So Helmuth thinks he's the "star" of the show AND the host. I don't particularly care for either of the guys left, but I hope either of them takes him to the cleaners.

Honestly, I love Hellmuth, but it is getting really annoying how every time a player is eliminated Phil finds it necessary to go over there and justify their play. If I was Gavin during his bust-out interview, I would've seriously told him to step off.- TR

what episode was it? I just went through the entire season (#3) and couldn't find anything with all of those players @ the same table. It may not be online yet if it was a recent episode.

QFTIm not really a Hellmuth Hater but the exit interview BS and when the chick is introducing everyone he echos their nickname. Its like he sits home and thinks "What can I do to get more face time?". So annoying.

Borgata has this rule in their cash games. I find it bizarre. What I want to know is this.Player A bets on the river.Player B calls.Player A mucks (as is his right).Player B mucks. What do they just leave the chips in the middle? Give them all back to the players in the hand? Retrieve the cards from the muck and show them? Award the pot to player B even though he "must show" and didn't?All in all a clearly retarded rule.At any rate I liked the story about why Sam and Hellmuth got into a "fist fight". Sam sure takes his favorite seat seriously. The best part was the no one believed Phil.

After watching the whole week, it KILLS me how Phil ALWAYS complains about others playing bad/sucking out on him/etc., but he's sucked out almost every big pot he's played on PAD. If you're going to act like he does, then criticize your own play, too./rant

He needs to be evaluated for split personality disorder. He went from ballistic to giddy to ballistic in just a few hands. And Sheiky or not, I would not sit there and tell me that I didn't deserve to be in the tourney, that I"m an idiot, that I don't know how to play poker, that he doesn't know how I've made it this far......blah, blah, blah. 11 bracelets does not earn him the right to be a complete and total ass and disrespect his fellow players like that. He shoulda got tossed BEFORE it got to heads up.
