daniel, blown away by your latest blog entry

Recommended Posts

daniel, almost all of us here at FCP admire you greatly for a lot of things, from poker to your wealth to your generosity to your laid-back lifestyle, etc., etc., etc.i just wanted to say, though, that your latest blog entry about wanting to marry lori just blew me away. my respect for you went up ten-fold after i read a classic cardplayer article called "the expected value of life" (http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/a....php?a_id=14409), in which the author praised your kindess in tipping the poker room staff at the bellagio during christmas, but after reading about how honest, open and down to earth you are (being) about lori and marriage, my respect for you again went up ten-fold.i'm not trying to sound corny or brown-nosing, but i guess i'm a little bit of a romantic at heart, and it was nice to see that you can be open about your feelings for someone like you are. too many man (and women, i shouldn't be sexist) shut off their honest feelings and try too hard to portray a "cool" image, and too many people are also overly shy about their feelings to the point that they prevent things from happening that they could have caused, and i'm glad to see that you're doing neither.major props. good luck with the relationship, and i hope everything works out.aseem

Part Time poster, full time lurker.Came to this board a few months back, trying to figure out why DN was wearing a GR Griffins jersey. :club: Wonderful blog entry and as someone living in Grand Rapids, I can pretty much guess your religious(DCR?) and politics issues. Good luck with the girl, sounds like you know what you want.

I totally agree, Akishore.People are so cynical, so guarded with their emotions these days. This is another reason that I'm a fan.I don't want to be presumptious, given that I don't know anything about the situation, and I'm just a total stranger and all....but if a man I cared about laid out these type of feelings about me in such a public venue...WOW!Best wishes, Daniel.

My 2 favorite movies are When Harry Met Sally and Notting Hill.I always root for the boy to get the girl. I also cry at the end of each movie, even though I have seen both 100s of times.I am all teared up right now. Wow, Daniel, you really laid you heart on the line. Saying what you said in this journal, the only response is a "YES!"Go get her!

I think a couple having too much in common is a recipe for disater. You have to be able to disagree from time to time, it makes the relationship stronger, and exciting. As long as you don't pound your beliefs too hard and belittle the other for theirs. To agree all the time makes for a boring life together. If you move to Michigan, the Soaring Eagle Casino needs a Poker Ambassador...they spread a pretty soft 10-20 game there... :-)

I agree, opposites can certainly attract. I've been living with my girlfriend for about a year and a half... we don't agree on any of the small stuff it seems... what's for dinner, what movie do you want to see or when is farting approriate lol. These are the small things that make a relationship, knowing each other, knowing the small stuff that others don't. It's always about the bigger picture. If it's meant to be it'll work itself out.Best wishes with Lori,- Jason

My husband and I are very different. We had some big obstacles to overcome when we got together. We've been married almost seven years (May 16) and I can't imagine not being his wife. DN,You're totally in love, dude. While love is not "all you need", it is certainly a great foundation for the rest of your life with her. Make it happen. The pressure is on, so step up like you usually do. Sweep her off her feet. I don't know how she could refuse you if she's read that blog entry. Nik
