Buying A New Car

Recommended Posts

I'm also looking for a car, new or used and willing to spend up to $40K. If you guys could seriously help me out it would be great as I know nothing about cars. I'm so open to any suggestion that the Delorean might be the frontrunner right now.

Thats a big price range. You need to narrow it down, car, suv, truck if car sedan or couple, do have wife, kids, dogs etc.

I'm looking for anything. I'm thinking about an 09 Tahoe when they come out, but there's gotta be better options that I am just not privy to. No wife, kids or anything. *Knock on wood*

Buy used.If you are set on new, I would get a mustang, they look and sound cool.but buy used, you save on everything and you save so much you can easily pay for any repairs and still be way ahead. If you buy a classic, you get a car, you get to be cool, and you get to sell it for the same or maybe even more than you paid for it.so 68 Camero RSS convertible
Don't buy a used foreign car with high resale value... or you are the one paying the premium. If you want a foreign car with high resale value... then the obvious decision is to buy it new.I just bought an 03 Windstar for $3000 and it's a great car. Lot's of room for a bed and tons of whores.... or my wife and kids.

I don't really like BMW's. Not my kind of car.

damn you for trying to hijack my thread!!!! lol. but anyways, what reasons would you buy the civic/accord and whatnot. i'm mostly looking for jst a car (in other words, no SUV or truck). one thats very dependible and shit like that. and if you can get prices quoted at the standard base model or something rounded up around that general idea it'd be greatly appreciated!

Ya sorry. I didn't want to start a new thread with basically the same question so I thought I could be the threads 1st mate. Nevermind that sounds gay.I don't recall saying anything about a Civic. That car is not going to help me acquire Keira Knightley.

the only things that matter when buying a car are how fast it goes and how well it handles. so with your price range you should be looking at something from around 04/05. you can get a very nice camaro for that much.

My only real complaint with my Camaro (I sold it in HS, after I realized how dumb it made me look) is that due to a mysterious design flaw, the stereo will only play Def Leppard's Pyromania. The reason it was never resolved was that the car's target market didn't see it as a problem.

:club: in queens they are considered guido mobiles, but i've heard that stereotype also. ill give you that, they do make you look kind of childish. i don't care much about what i look like to other people though. a car is a pretty expensive thing, my thinking is that if im gonna plunk down all that extra cash to have one i want it to be fun. and be honest, no matter how silly it might make you look its a fun car.

Hey, I used to own one; the Dutchman is judging not.Plus, I've recently made the biggest sober mistake of my life, buying a car that makes me look like a way bigger chode than any Camero ever could: I now drive a powder blue '71 SL convertible, and buddy, I don't hesitate to tell you that upon seeing my reflection driving the thing, I now realize I look like a mix between a slightly cultured Harlem pimp and a struggling screenwriter, trying to keep up appearances. I can't believe I thought it looked cool.

Neither will an SUV.

I refuse to believe that any 04 Camaro costs $40k.

That's not a mistake at all. Possibly my favorite thing about my old car/toy ('72 Camaro) was how ridiculous I looked in it. I used to get a kick out of driving it to work once in a while at a nice office building wearing my business casual clothes.

It's amazing these days. You can go to the honda website and it has added all this info on prices and stuff like that. You can even see what color the cars come in. Seriously, it's not hard to find the price of a car. If you can take the time to post this topic and check back you have time to go to honda.com.I just bought an 08 Civic. It's a dog compared to my previous car but the gas mileage is great and it will last me the 3 yrs I leased for and I won't have to put one cent into it.

Agreed, we bought my wife a 07 civic and have had it two years and all we have paid for is the routine maintenance on it and it gets pretty good gas mileage

I just bought a Hyundai Tiburon. I like it a lot. It looks sporty but I don't know if you want a coupe. They are around 17k and come with 60k bumper to bumper, 100k powertrain warranty. Also, if you do get it, you should go for the automatic.Tiburon

Call me mid life/punk/whatever, but I have grown to love this little beast. 30 mpg when babied, otherwise just stupid fast for it's size (little 4 banger turbo) and the quickest shifting automatic I have ever driven. Just a blast.Find a used one and save the depreciation.DSC00830.jpg

My dad got 44 mpg out of his GTI and averages about 35. I was getting 33 out of mine.If you get one, get the extended warranty. Fun as hell to drive when they are not in the shop.
