Buying A New Car

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to buy a new car in between the price range of 15-20k. Looking mostly at getting a 07 since the majority of dealerships are looking to get rid of 07 cars asap. What would you get and what features would you look into buying a new car?

Scion Tc?
Insurance rates on a scion are higher because of all the young drivers that use them. Might not be too much of a difference from comparable cars, but higher nonetheless. You should get a corolla. It will last a long time and has very good gas mileage.

Buy used.If you are set on new, I would get a mustang, they look and sound cool.but buy used, you save on everything and you save so much you can easily pay for any repairs and still be way ahead. If you buy a classic, you get a car, you get to be cool, and you get to sell it for the same or maybe even more than you paid for it.so 68 Camero RSS convertible

I think if you're going to buy used, you should at least consider getting an extended warranty (it might depend on how old the car is.) I got my 2001 Firebird in December of '05 and it cost me an extra $3,200 for a 3 year warranty that covers pretty much anything and everything with a $50 deductable.Seriously, if you want to get laid, like a lot. Then just get this...

this is the correct answer. I bought my 98 tacoma used in 2001 and paid it off in four years and only spend about $300/year on maintenance. Hooray me! Although if you are going to buy new make sure you have enough for a good downpayment. I had to go against my own advice two years ago when we bought my wife's car and I still wish we would've just used the 6K that we had to put against a good used car and we could've proabably paid off the balance by next year. All that being said if you are absolutely must have a new car, I would go with a Subaru. My in laws have 2 Forresters and they are awesome. they are both 97's and they run like champs. if you can afford a little more car then go with the http://www.subaru.com/shop/overview.jsp?mo...&trim=5DOOR

I had a DeLorean for awhile, but its really hard to find parts. Took me ages to track down a flux capacitor. Why not buy British? If you stretch your budget a little you could pick up a Jag XK8 for about $25. This is a £50k ($100) car brand new.

My mom just got a 2001 S-type for about 17K. Really sweet car, that drives real smooth. She actually traded in her 350Z (worth about 30K) for it, and there have been no regrets.

I just bought a slightly used (14K miles) Saturn Ion. It's not the hottest thing going, but it looks practically new -- and for only $11,000, it was a good buy. I was originally planning to spend closer to $20K, but I'm glad I saved the money.

Untill they break(and they will). Jags look cool and everything, but they are very expensive to fix. My Dad runs a dealership and has owned 2. Both where POS

Most big name cars are very expensive to fix, but that's the price you pay to drive a Jag, Benz, BMW, etc. It's also the reason why extended warranties are so important. In the time she's had the car, she's only had one major problem. Her transmission wasn't working properly (not sure of all the details, i only know it was impossible to get the car out of park). They quoted her about $1,430 to fix it, and it cost her $75 for everything. Car has run perfect since then.
