RDog 0
Fine, then I change my vote to Roothlus. Its nothing against Stein......I know a ton of you still talk to him all the time through IM. But its kinda pointless to do this IMO if the person who wins an award doesn't even really post here anymore. I can only remember one Stein post that I have seen in the last few months. NoSup4U 0
Correct me if Im wrong but hasnt TJ been playing the sunday majors for quite a long time? While obv 2 huge wins like he had is an amazing accomplishment. I think he's been +ev in those tournaments for quite sometime now, prolly well before this year even. JC and Roberts have jumped up limits at an amazing pace this year and have proven to both be big time winning players in stakes that maybe they couldnt even have imagined theyd be playing at this time. IMO TJ's big breakout year will be '08 when he's able to test his skills in the WPT and WSOP. Save your TJ votes for next year. This year, imo Roberts and JC are the only 2 real canidates. (although I think there is a ton of people that deserve the mentions they gotten in here) Going from playing .25/.50 to destroying 10/20 is an unbelevable accomplishment. As is going from playing a couple hundred dollar buy in tournies to beating 10ks. JC definitely had a breakout year this year, but he's been doing well for a long time. He final tabled a WSOP (albeit a smaller event) 2 summers ago that nobody ever remembers about and he doesn't mention much. (not saying this should make his year 'less' than Roberts, just want him to get the credit he should. He's been sick good and had a lot of success last year also. This year was just off the charts and now everyone knows his name )Mark

PrtyPSux 0
Cool thread. I don't post on here as much as some of you do and I want to improve on that. I didn't really play any tournies this year, but i successfully moved from .25 50 to 10 20 NL and now play 95% heads up. I am not totally sure on exactly how much I made, but it is in between 330 and 340 thousand. I hope this doesn't get taken as me bragging, as I am trying to shed some light on my results as people were saying how cash results are hard to find unlike tourney results. But there are clearly more deserving people to win this award as I simply don't post enough good material like many posters on here. This kid wins for sure...I mean I had a 4k roll a the start of the year, but I play tourneys, ran good, got staked etc....this dude went from .25/.50 to 300k profits in one year grinding and that's so much tougher than anything anyone else did this year....Don't know anything about him but if what he wrote is true then he's a lock imo. Roberts2003 0
I dont know much about roberts either but i did see him sitting with over 250k on a table before lol so i know hes got the roll hes saying but how did you move up so quick ???lotta shot taking and bad br manegment or what ??I have been playing NL hold em for 5 years and started playing online for small stakes when I was 16 or 17. Nothing big, just 25 NL on party poker im sure thats a lot of other people's stories as well. Fall of 2006 I started experiencing some success on Full Tilt running 500 up to 8K in about 6 or 7 weeks, but I wasn't serious at the time in roll management and lost like 4K in 1 day and then cashed out vowing that I was quiting poker. I spent the next 6 weeks not playing, but watching the big NL games run on Full Tilt. If anyone can remember back in December of 2006, and January and February of 2007, these 100 200 NL and 200 400 NL games would run basically 24/7 with top notch players and hardly any shortstackers. I just remember watching and trying to get into each players heads on what they were thinking on each street of every hand. Honestly, in the 5 years that I have been playing, those 6-7 weeks of just watching were when I improved the most as a poker player. That might not be standard, but thats how it was for me. In late February or maybe it was early March, I decided to deposit 1K on Full Tilt and be totally serious about it this time, as in no tilting, good bankroll management, all that. I played .25 .50 6 max I think, and got up to around 1700$ as a bankroll in about 2 or 3 weeks, then I got 4th in a 24+2 for 1700$ which doubled my bankroll, which allowed me to start playing some 50 cent 1 dollar NL and take some shots at heads up 50 1 NL. From there, I just played a lot of hands at 6 max and at heads up, and kept climbing. I think I had 1 other tourney score for like 3500$ in a 100+9 for 3rd place when i had an 11K bankroll which got me over 14K. I then started playing a lot of 1 2 NL 6 max and 1 2 NL heads up. I kept climbing and when i got around 20K, I started playing 2 4 NL 6 max and some 2 4 NL heads up, although I kept doing a lot of 1 2 NL heads up as 2 4 NL seemed to high at the time. When I got to around 20K as a roll, I did more 2 4 NL heads up. At some point in between this and 30K as a roll I took a couple shots at 5 10 NL heads up using very strict game selection and really tried to put in a lot of hands. There were ups and downs, but I kept climbing doing pretty much all 2 4 NL 6 max and 5 10 NL heads up. I got to around 47K as a roll by late May I think, where I stopped playing because I was a counselor on a lake in NH for the summer with no internet. I think I resumed playing sometime in August, and kept playing 5 10 NL heads up. At some point I incorporated 10 20 NL heads up, which i remember being a sick sick rush the first time I won a 4K pot . On the last day of August, I played Paul Wasicka heads up at 10 20 NL for 4 hours. I had an 80K roll at the time, and I remember how sick of a rush that whole match was and how focused I was. Still to this day this is one of the best calls I have ever made.http://www.pokerhand.org/?1432948I ended up winning 4K off him and he quit saying gg Strong 9, I still remember how sick of a feeling that was to have him leave with me sitting with all the $. I have played 6 or 7 more Full Tilt Pros besides Wasicka, and the only one who I think was particularly good was Huck Seed. Since then I have just played mostly heads up, almost all at 10 20 NL, with some 25 50 NL depending on the opponent. It's sad to say but I can't play 5 10 NL anymore as its too much of a grind. Basically August was my first big month and every month after that has been pretty good. I'm very grateful with how things have worked out in 2007 and I hope to keep building and have a good 2008. Thats the story of Strong 9, hope that answers any questions.

SCYUKON 0
Pretty sure either way there is only one nominee. No if the category is over 40 and limit playa I have to throw my name in the ring. Bought a great book (won't share, ok will, since you guys are fun, called Holdem on the come by Rolf Slotboom) and it changed the way I play limit live, Have not had a losing session in the 15 or so times I have played since at 3/6. Wins average between 80 and 250 with a 140 buyin each time.Just posting so I can share that book. The funny thing is that the donkey who chased gutshots after the flop in big pots was mathematically doing the right thing all along. Read the book and you will see why. When is the awards ceremony? Dress business casual or Black Tie? Balloon Guy is probably the only one of us with a tux.
