You Think You're Decent And Then You See Someone Else's Play Blow You Away

Wow. Played in a tourney here in KC at Harrah's on Saturday and had a loose/aggressive to my right. Just an incredible player. Kind of shook my confidence for a bit until I got a bit of a better read on him. Anyone else ever run into that?Just really had a huge amount of respect for his play....

No - I play at Hustler in California.

Hey OrzyVibe whats up I play that tourney pretty often, I'm sure we've seen each other if you're there often. However these past couple weeks since Harrah's bad beat hit i've been playing 3/6 at Ameristar. I never knew it was possible to consistently MAKE $$ at 3/6 until recently :club:

LOL. Ok...gotcha. Nobody else has run into a player better than themselves at the tables. Sorry for the bothersome post.
No.. but we've all ran into players that we think have great skill, does that mean we have to start a topic about it?

I usually play the Sunday afternoon tourney at the Argosy...I've played $3/$6 limit at the Ameristar also. It was my first time at Harrah's...I like that casino. Busy poker room compared to the others.

It wasn't bothersome, just pointless. Obviously you are going to play with people of various skill levels at the table. Don't feel bad, like 80% of my posts are pointless too. But when it comes to making new topics, I try to keep that to under 50% being pointless, but in the last month or so I think I've crept over that barrier, even having one straight up deleted this morning for the first time ever. Here's to my next new topic being a good one!

No, of course not. That would imply that there is a better play out there, which is just laughable

I don't worry if my post is considered 'pointless' or not...the replies will dictate that, don't you think? My point was that this was the first time I really ran into somebody that completely impressed me with his play and shook my confidence a little at the table. I thought it possible others could relate.

The important thing is to keep learning and improving, learn something from that guy.
Absolutely. He put on a clinic the first hour of the tourney. Mixed it up beautifully.

I don't know about the rest of you but I personally hate seeing new topics. I wish we could just have the same topics all the time. And only the ones that interest me.OMG, I just had a flash of brilliance (or maybe it's the hangover). We should just have one topic that everyone posts everything into. That way we never have to complain about new topics being created.Mods, hook this up.

I actually haven't ever run into anyone while playing live that really "blew me away" or anything like that. I've seen good players, but nothing that really shook my confidence. I would have to say the most impressive person I've railed is Isaac Baron AKA WestmenloAA, Mr. Menlo, Mjorgensen. Seems like he just never makes a mistake and somehow wins every single tournament he plays.

when playing live, i used to feel that way about some players before i had an actual working BR.now, honestly, I want to play every player at any table in the room HU for rollz. ok, no seriously though, I'm usually the guy they are fearing now. mostly because having a BR = playing A class pokeralso, i'm talking strictly cash games. tournaments are for suckers.

i was playing a home game $40 tourney that i usually have a CLEAR advantage over. We were down to 3 when a fifteen year old fired a 4-bet with air on the river vs me. Honestly it probably tilted me like never before.
