I'm thinking a (likely) better 7 lo and a spade flush here. Or he's got trip 4's and is trying to build rake to get his cookie basket faster. It's the 2nd answer more often than not, surprisingly..

What do you think about the play of the hand? Looking back at this one it feels pretty solid to me once I make the bored donkey call on 3rd.

bored donkey calls have a nasty habit of being the worst hand both ways. Raising 6th was the proper play. You have no reason to raise on 7th... You don't have a high hand, and with his horrible OPR that doesn't even have mixed game tourneys on it, you. That said, there are 2 potential flushes for him that beat your "straight", and he could also have a whee or 6 hi straight. If he's got a better low, that sucks, but he needs 3 perfect for it, and all-in boy can't have better than an 8 low anyways. It makes far more sense for him to have some wacky boat than some from of a low draw anyways. Of course, he might be really bad.. And have a pair of fours and a low draw going into the river. But being really bad doesn't excuse betting out against a 4567 twice.

That's what I've found...I used to drop a lot of mobnies with two low pair. I making progress toward fixing that leak, helped by multitabling requiring me to play much tighter than I used to.

My thought at the time is that he sucked out and hit his flush. I'm fairly confident that my "straight" was ahead of him on 6th, hence the horribly poor bet/call line. Results for anyone interested: Villain hit the ace for the wheel on the river...I was betting in to a monster draw here that ALMOST missed. Villain started off with 2345 all spades...d'oh.

The beauty of the low two pair, though, is that when it does win, it drags an entire pot against 1 or 2 opponents. So you only have to make the magic happen roughly 1 in 3 times to be ahead *against 1-2 opponents not obviously already low*.

I do like your line, if you can use it to get a free card on 6th, which check-raising 5th may accomplish against an opponent with half a brain. And, as always, you pretty much have to pay off the "worst case scenario". You can pay off far worse getting 5.3-1 on your river call with a rough 7 low.
