Live Mtt Chop-deal Or No Deal?

Recommended Posts

I just found this Payout sheet in my pocket from a MTT that I played/won a couple weeks ago in Vegas. Is there any reason anyone can think of to not take this deal?Caesars Palace11PM $120 buy in54 players Total prize pool is $48601st-$18472nd-$10693rd-$7294th-$5835th-$3896th-$243With 7 players left, we all agreed to take $60 from first and second place and pay the bubble their buyin back. After the bubble burst the play remained the same with me raising every other hand and people folding. Hey, I had the most chips and I was going to use them. lolzWith blinds at 1K/2K ante of 400, the second largest chip stack(obnoxious dude from Chicago that kept saying, "ship it, suck it." every time a pot was awarded) offered up the most ridiculous chop I've ever heard. He said that the two biggest stacks (me and him) would chop first and second place and the other 4 players could chop the rest. The tourney director (TD) did some calculations while I continued to raise and everyone folds. I was acting apprehensive about any kind of chop and the second in chips was playing up the "it's late and I'm tired" routine. After about 4 hands, the TD said he had the numbers but we would have to finish the hand. No chops are discussed while a hand is in progress. "I raise." good timesAnyway, the other players ended up taking the deal and somehow the ship it dude got the other 4 players to kick in $30 from each of their cut to pay off the bubble. 1st and 2nd= $1458 each Basically the same deal that we could have reached if heads up. 3rd-6th = $456 eachThe chip stacks when the chop was tentatively proposed.me 80Kship it 60Kother 4 around 20KWhen play stopped for the official chop discussion, I was the only one who had increased their chip stack. I honestly don't think I would have taken this type of deal even if I only had 3X the BB and sixth place money staring at me.Brag-I chopped 1st and 2nd place money with 6 players left. Beat-I had to play poker with 'ship it, suck it'Variance-I bubbled the next one and got last place money in the one after that.

Id take that 6 handed everyday all day. One thing that drives me crazy is those smaller live tourneys when it gets to the bubble everyone wants to immediatly give the bubble boy some money kinda taking away some of the best poker of a tournament. Wow I played for 6 hours and got my money back, yipee.

I think what was learned in the only safe place to repeatedly say "ship it, suck it" to peoples faces without being punched in the face is at casino in the presence of security. Like I can see someone saying that online from the safety of their own computer chair...but someone saying that live makes me wonder how stupid people can possibly be.

We did the same shit @ Bellagio's $540 daily. There were 75 players, first was 14.5k, final table got paid. When we got down to 10 handed, the tournament director asked us if we each wanted to contribute 50 to pay the bubble boy back $450. We all agreed.Looking back though, I probably should have declined doing that.Ahhh well. I took 8th for like 1.3k.

dude, great chop, that's a no brainerI chopped the same tournament 5 handed also, lol -- First place was 1500 or something, the top 4 had to pay taxes on their winnings. Everyone wanted a chop, but I was REALLY drunk and felt that I was 20x better than everyone else at the table, so I said "I'll take 1400 and I'm not going to put my name down for taxes"they actually went for it, i basically got 1st place money
