shortstacked in a tournament?

Recommended Posts

What are good hands to go all in pre-flop when you are shortstacked in a tournament. Yesterday I had about 8 Big Blinds left and looked down on AQ o. I know its not a good hand in a no-limit tournament but I pushed anyway. Was this the right move?

Well yeah, sorta, I know Ive only got a few hands left to push with, but at the same time I still have about 6 rounds left. I know I need to pick a spot, but should I try to wait to maybe see a flop? I mean this was still early on in the tournament, so I wasn't close to the money yet. Oh yeah I was UTG so I did not get to see anyone else act first. Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm never good at pushing before the flop so that's why I was asking.

are you serious?
Is this neccesary? The guy was just asking for help.- Jordan
and I asked if he was serious, yes you aren't close to the money so you have a long way to go before you even get your original investment back. Push with anything reasonable, and quit nut peddling during tournaments

Thanks, I figured I should push then, but you know when I lose a hand, I always think if there was a way I could play it better. I mean I'm an ok tournament player, just not so good on a short stack.

don't worry about the results. you are dominated by 3 hands in that situation, AA, KK, and AK. When you're shortstacked in a tournament(especially early) you can't sit around and nut peddle you have to pick a hand and go with it.
