So the thread is gone and our post history is gone.I guess we'll just to have to believe through faith that there really was a thread, since there is no proof except for the subjective beliefs of a few.

philosophically speaking there is necessarily an element of faith involved in judging oneself not to be insane or in ruling out solipsism, but that goes without saying.otherwise there is no parallel. the existence of "the thread" is not a series of 2000-year-old claims resembling previously existing unrelated mythology, defying everything we know about science, and made by multiple uncheckable authors of dubious motivation writing decades after the fact and all contradicting each other in major details

again i don't see the parallel. nobody has contradicted anyone else about major details of what was in the thread, there is no reason to think anyone who claims the thread existed has ulterior motives for doing so, and (as far as i know) everyone who claims it existed is available for cross-examination : )

I love how, as a society we are smart enough to give murder different levels, and punish accordingly, we are smart enough to basically give things levels of leeway. Abortion, speeding tickets, extra- marital affairs, etc. We can go, "Say, that's not that bad. You deserve X." But, as soon as you read a biblical passage, accounted for in different biblical spots, by 2 different authors, and one of those authors doesn't remember or incorrectly accounts for, say, where a person was ****ing standing, you guys are screaming "Liars!!" Honestly, God is somewhere laughing his butt off daily at the stupidity of your supposed brilliance. Nobody more than God knows that you just can't buy that type of entertainment. If you think about it, and you put yourself in a creators shoes, how much fun is this? The constant denials must crack him up to no end. Now, think about the end, judgement day. There you are, "But, God, 2 of the authors had some details incorrect." God thinks for a second- not because he needs time, it's for effect. Watching us for so long he knows the importance of a good sized hesitation. He pulls at his beard, then speaks: "My son, if 2 or 3 observe another making spaghetti, and 100 years later one remembers a black pot and one remembers a blue pot, and the 3rd is a blind man, but he sure knows what spaghetti tastes like, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that when they told the story of the great spaghetti day, that it was a true story?" You: "Well, sure, but.." God just shakes his head- this actually makes him sad. You are the 620,000th person he has spoken to today that is clearly quite smart, well read, much knowledge, but still, dumb as a box of rocks. He would like to blame himself, he really would, but it's not like he didn't leave you with all of the necessary tools. He did all he could, short of come into your bedroom shouting, "I am Oz, the great and terrible!" Trapdoor opens, and eternity of fire commences. it's much more than minor details obviously. it's historical implausability of major details such as those of the birth story, sequence of major events etc. and even beyond the internal historical contradictions, all evidence indicates the gospels are based on other pre-existing writings and/or oral tradition, with the authors trying to mold events to shape jesus into their personal concepts of what the savior should be based on jewish prophecies that were well known to them. the evidence indicates that is why they are so different and contradictory.

nice sermon, but pointless. obviously nobody would argue that contradictions in minor details invalidates what you assume to be true based on faith.

If we as a society are smart enough to do that, why isn't your god capable of this. Last I checked, if you don't accept Jesus Christ as your savior, he sends you to hell. No degrees of guilt; no varying levels. Its the biggest reason I hate the christian concept of god. He's an asshole.
