Nikki_N 17
Caesars Palace in Louisville, KY is fun. They just expanded their poker room. If you want to go up to Chicago land, there is Harrah's, and Trump. Both spread low limit holdem and run tournaments (about like Caesars). Basically, Lake Michigan area and the Ohio River (Indiana side) are where the Casinos are. Or you could go south to Tunica.
BankyTheHack 0
In Kansas City, we have 4 casinos and three poker rooms. The nicest of which is probably the Ameristar (They run SnGs from 12 -8). Harrahs is nice too but my only complaint is that its too small. The Isle of Capri is way behind harrahs in quality. Harrahs and Ameristar have hotels too.How about Iowa? benhoug 0
I live in Chicago, and occasionally make the trek to Gary/Hammond, IN (about 30 - 45 mins outside Chicago for the poker rooms at the Trump and Harrah's casinos. I prefer the room at the Trump, though Harrah's is nicer aesthetically, the games more fit my bankroll at the Trump. It has 3/6 Limit Hold 'Em as well a nice 2/5 blinds $200 buy-in NL Hold 'Em game which usually is running on 2 or 3 tables. They also have tournaments, but they're shitty and become card-catching contests as the blinds increase so rapidly. Don't bother w/ table games though - if you're into that it would be cheaper to fly out to Vegas for the night. The lowest bj and craps tables are like 15 bucks at these casinos. iowa's finest 0
i spend most of my time in the st louis area. ameristar is the only one that i know of that has a poker room but its really small. we gotta lot of riverboats but its all slots and other table games i dont get much into besides blackjack.i dont know why only 1 has a poker room. you would figure with the rakes they take that every casino would have one.maybe they just havent caught on to no lmtand every other game...iprobly just need to get more $ and get my lazy ass out to vegas. i have heard that tunica is great i may have to try that one out. thanks again for the imput
Silly String 0
Ameristar in KC claims they have the biggest poker room in the midwest. I don't know about biggest, but it is nice. Most common low limit games are played and some NL with 100-300 buy-in.I know they also have at least a pair of poker room in St. Louis at Harrah's and the Ameristar. Those are probably closest to you depending on your location in So. IL. Good luck.
AlexR 0
Harrah's in St. Louis also has a poker room. Ameristar and Harrah's offer mostly3/6 hold em with a few tables of higher limits or other games. The poker rooms in St. louis are small, but they are always busy. Its not worth coming to St. Louis for the poker unless you want to play exclusively 3/6 hold em, although I think Ameristar has weekly NL tournaments, and Harrah's has monthly WSOP satellites. DrawingDeadInDM 0
If you're looking for something within driving distance..Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Altoona, IA has just recently added poker rooms, and they're pretty nice..There's also Lakeside in Osceola..Meadows is just off of I-80, before you hit Des Moines and Lake Side is down I-35 about 40 minutes south of Des Moines..they're both nice enough and you can clean up the lower limits pretty well.. Slovak39 0
iowa's finest: I live in st.louis and went to school at southern illinois so im speaking your language here. St. Louis has about 5 casinos in the metro area and within 2 years 6. 3 of those are downtown on the riverfront. Currently there are 3 casinos here that offer a poker room. When i was going to school at SIU we would take the 45 min drive to Metropolis to the casino there. though at the time they did not have a poker room, they may now, i dont know. hope this helps. Poker room info, tournament schedules, and other poker related information can be found here. This group is open to all card players! Please help spread the word and contribute to the first group dedicated to Oklahoma Poker! http://groups.myspace.com/oklahomapoker
