Feeling Bad About Taking A Guy's Money

Recommended Posts

i was just playing a guy on UB but i wont reveal his name. As soon as he lost his $ to me he told me that he just lost about 1/2 his BR and how he's gonna kill himself..he's really depressed yada yada yada...i gave him advice to quit and get help for his gambling problem since he clearly has one but he prolly isnt going to get it. i emailed UB support to try to get him help.He was so desperate for the money he told me if i transfer him 200 he'd quit, to which i said 'that's ridicilous'...kinda felt bad for the first time seeing someone like that. I bet it's even harder in a casino when you actually do see them.

lol, since its on the interweb he could be BS'ing just to get money out of you.If you feel bad taking someones money no matter who it is, then poker isn't the game for you. The only way I would feel bad is if I won money from a family member. I'd just feel bad though I wouldn't give the money back.

< ------[X] - Would quit for $200[X] - Lost half his bankroll[X] - Has a gambling problem and will probably never get help[ ] - Plays on UBPhew...A serious answer though, when you hit the bad times, which I'm not sure if you ever have since you run pretty good, you will remember times like these and think to yourself how you ever thought of feeling sorry for someone. I know there were times a couple months ago where I would crush someone so badly I'd feel somewhat bad...but now that I'm on the other side, I couldn't care less about breaking someone's bank.

Im with tanner on this one. Losing money's a part of the game and so is taking it. I would feel good about winning that much money no matter who it was against or what it ment to their BR. It's your BR you should be worried about not the BR of other players. They're big boys. Let them do thier own thing and if they lose to you cause you've outclassed them, its their problem and not yours.

I have a thing about winning money off old people, specifically guys with white hair and look down-trodden. They just look helpless and somewhere inside me I know thats going to be me in a few decades. Not to say I'm going to soft play or anything. But there is some internal guilt I suppose. But I feel lots better when they are out of sight. :club:

Only time I ever felt bad about taking a guy's money was playing $1/2 nl at Windsor casino. The table uber-donk happened to be this guy who was playing while sitting in his motorized wheelchair. He was obv. quadriplegic (sp?) and had a guy sitting next to him that would pick his cards up and show them to him, then he would nod or signal as to what action this guy was to take. Short story long, he was friggin putting chips in with just about anything, and I stacked him on a board that had 4 cards to a straight (I think 5678) when I had 9T for teh nuts. He kept raising me on the river when I was trying to just valuetown him, so we finally get it all in, and he rolls over two pairs. Watching him and his helper roll away in their chairs I have to admit, I did feel a LITTLE bad about the whole thing.....

You live with your mom and claim to be a professional poker player.Do you realize the unintentional comedic value of any post you make, especially semi-serious ones such as this?Keep up the awesomeness.EDIT: I just read your blog, and you say that your bankroll sits at about 60K. I call bullshit. Who lives at home with a 60K bankroll, other than someone who is lying about the 60K?

Have a heart man, the guy mentioned he was gonna kill himself, sure a lot of what he's feeling is probably his own fault but still, it's not something you should be ashamed of feeling sorry for.

I saw some older Asian woman crying profusely by herself next to a blackjack/pai gow table when I was in Tahoe last weekend; that was pretty uncomfortable.
