UnionGuy 0
I am finishing my internship in New York soon and moving back to Philadelphia for the summer. Wondering if any FCP folks are in the area, maybe we can set up a home game of some sort. As everyone could tell from my performance during the HORSE tournament last night, I need to work on my Razz and Omaha hi/lo. So maybe we'll start a rotation game.Second, since I am going to be home for the summer and have a little more free time, I am thinking of getting serious about limit poker. I've never deposited more than $50 at a time or cashed out for more than $200 at any poker site. I mostly play MTT and SnG's, plus low buy-in NL on Full Tilt. I play poker for fun and mostly because I like the strategy involved. I do keep records and am a slightly winning player. However, I don't play enough or at high enough levels to win serious money.I've deposited at Poker Stars, Party/Empire, Pacific, and Full Tilt. I am thinking of plugging $300-$500 into Poker Room so I can get the 40% bonus offered. What do you guys think? I'd like to start at $3/$6, but have read I need as much as $1200 to play at that level. Is this true? Looking on other poker sites, no one ever seems to buy-in for more than $200 at this level.I feel pretty solid in my poker theory (have read Theory of Poker, Harrington on Hold ‘Em and Ken Warren Teaches Texas Hold ‘Em, plus a few other tournament specific books), but am wondering about bankroll management. Very few books really explain the thinking behind this.
bobbytheo3 0
i havent tried it yet, but i heard the 1-2 NL game at the taj is pretty weak. supposedly they are insanely loose there and you can sit on premium hands and get paid off. don't know for sure, but thats what some of my friends have told me. etither way, its worth the 55 minute drive to find out
TeeSludge 0
Hey Union,I live right near the Philadelphia area in NJ but will be moving to Atlantic City in June. I would definetely check out the games at the Taj, Ballys, Harrah's or the trop. All are extremely loose and easy to beat. I will be dealing at either Bally's or the Trop beginning in June. If you do get a mixed game started in Philly, I would most definetely be interested. In the mean time, PM me if you plan on coming down to AC.
Vanillathunder 0
I have my own game and online forum for the philly area, if you're interested. There are also a few games in the city (including an underground club), they're pretty easy to sniff out. If you want to jump into a game, I'm organizing one right over the bridge in the Jersey 'burbs. (I just moved down there). If anyone else wants to play, let me know.
spacoli 0
Maybe they are all soft in AC. I started playing at the Borgata (2/5 NL) every couple of weeks. Buy-in max is $500, and I have only one losing session (out of 9?). I generally come home +500 or better. This isn't a post to brag about my winnings, but to illustrate that the Borgata is also soft. I don't venture beyond the 2/5....I don't see any need to if I can consistenly win at it. :-)

UnionGuy 0
Ok, maybe I need to be a bit more clear.I'm going to deposit on Poker Room, the online website. I am only 20 years old, so I have a while before I can sit anywhere in Atlantic City.I've actually been to the club on Chestnut St once. Thought it was alright, but it was the first time I'd ever played in a real poker tournament. Busted out pretty quick.

I haven't been there yet but was debating it, I keep getting *Very* mixed reviews about it.they advertise a nl holdem tourney every monday night, but for the most part it never happens<lack of intrest>they prefer ring games there. which is cool , but im looking to try and improve my tourney play..its a good place to go if you are more into the cash games..i had an ok time playing the 1/2 baby nl,,i like to play mostly limit and i play 2/4 i belive the smallest limits they had were 3/6 and 4/8...it was a nice place, just didnt like the vibe...<make sense?>i would reccomend checking it out if you have never been..judge for yourself , i could be completely wrong lol
icancount2one 0
I'm new to the city. I'd be more than interested to get some OH8 and razz cranking, but also enjoy NLHE tourneys and FLHE cash games. I work in center city, but don't have time to go "sniffing out" a club. What vague area of Walnut or Chestnut are we talking here? 2000s? 1000s?

I'm getting exhausted with online poker, and am looking for a good game in philly, particularly center city, to play. I know I'm new on the site, but any info, however general, would be appreciated.
