qheuie 0
how do you all manage your poker bankroll? more specifically, when you started playing poker seriously did you cut yourself a check and make a "poker bankroll" and keep track of it that way or did you just start playing and keeping track of your wins/losses to know where you stand?i did the latter, but think i should change that. it seems like i should pick a range of limits to play (2/4, 3/6, 1/2 NL, <$200 NL tourneys, for example) and make an initial bankroll investment that compliments those limits.my logic for this is that i seem to be a "jack of all trades" kinda guy. i am OK at a lot of things, but never really really good at a smaller set of things. this definitely holds true with my poker style and i think i need to remedy that. i think picking a set of limits, making the starting bankroll, and concentrating on "mastering" those limits will prove to be more profitable and fun.thoughts?q
Big_Puke 0
When I started playing I set aside $500.00 and read allot of posts about the appropriate level of poker I should be playing to stay self suffient and hopefully not go broke. I settled in on the .25 and .50 limit holdem full ring games but quickly ate up $100.00 in about two weeks. I then shifted gears and started playing $5.50 NL SitnGo's exclusively and have not looked back at limit games. Limit games do not fit my style of play, but that is just me! Others, may argue that you will get a greater ROI from Limit? In regards to keeping track of my bankroll and statistics such as ROI I am keeping these stats at www.pokercharts.com. It's free and has some great statistical analysis. Perhaps this will help with your management?
The Sheriff JBJ 0
I use one on-line site I opened an account with $100 and have not looked back. The only problem is with it being in $US im going to lose a fair few quid when I change it into £sterling, however, im hoping that will be a frop in the ocean by the time im ready to do that. There are not many live events that I can get to and when I can theya re smaller stake affairs so its hard to keep track. Overall I would say I am up on a 6 month period but not that much...... This leads me on to my next problem. Lets say I have paid £10 in a 6 way STT at a local casino. Becasue the stake is no real risk I play too casual and get bored. I need to be under pressure to play my best game.I also am not very good at Limit Poker. Especially when the bet size is small. I have picked up most of my $$$'s by making final tables of $18+ MTT's online. Its nice pocket money at the mo. But I dont think I have the dicipline to become a pro, besides I like my day job! Joenin 0
If you could calculate your winrate per a level and your average variance, what would be the correct way to figure out the percent chance of going broke at that limit with a certain sized bankroll?
