my first time in a casino went a little to well

like you said... you read TOP, and in THEORY OF POKER there is a quote from bobby baldwin. it says...."i've heard good players complain to me about how they get drawn out on all the time, but if they want to better their game and emotional state while playing, they should realize it's a mirage. if your an excellent player, people are going to draw out on you a lot more than you're going to draw out on them because they're simply going to have the worst hand against you a lot more times than you have the wost hand against them." anyway, this is something i remind myself a lot. especially when i want to reach over and choke someone that is pulling down chips that i know should have been mine. hope this helps.

I have been studying poker for about a year. I have read about 15 books cover to cover. Super system, lie make money, mike caros book of tells, TOP ect. and I went to the 2/4 table for the first time and in 3 hours took the table for about 240 bucks. Is it really that easy? I didn't get a single full house had 2 straights and a flush. Mostly high pair and two pair, but the people wouldn't fold. So I just kept raising when I thought I had the best hand. And in three hours I didn't turn over a loser and people were still calling my raises everytime. Some of the pots were 70-80 bucks. Have other people had this kind of experience or was it just a fluke?Any stories from people starting out with a 200 bank roll I am interested.
i think u r ready to multi-table live.
Hahahahaha.Seriously though, I suck at multi-tabling. Bad.

The Foxwoods 2/4 on weekends is incredibly soft. You'll see a lot of casual and even first time players at your table.$240 in 3 hours is very, very lucky. However, $240 could really just be 4 large pots won in 3 hours in that game. I've done as well as winning $600 in a 12 hour session at the 2/4, and I've also sat with $160 and lost it all because of continuous suck outs. Be prepared for those if you keep going there.

Yep, where I play it is! Ofcourse you will go on streaks where you won't get any cards or you will get sucked out by the river every time, but for the most part it is really easy to sit down and win a couple hundred bucks. Especially with calling stations at the table. Hope the streak continues for you!

$240 is an anomaly, but coming out ahead probably isn't. In my experience, most players play $2/4 tables like slots, letting the cards take them for a spin. Often, they will play their own hands so stubbornly, that they don't recognize that they are sometimes beat even when they hit their draws.I play pretty much by the book, loosening up when I think I have a good handle on the other players, and I average about $8-10 an hour at $2/4... just enough for some extra pocket cash. I've won as much as $360 in a session, and lost as much as $70. As others have mentioned, you can expect horrific beats. I am just 1 for 11 with pocket aces in the last three sessions, raising everytime preflop and capping on harmless-looking boards... just been running into bottom two pair, low trips, river straights, etc. However, I'm 7 for 7 with pocket kings, which is far better than I should expect in multiway pots. When it all averages out, players who play somewhat intelligently make more correct decisions than the people who are just there for a good time, and they should ultimately turn a profit.I would just stress one thing: table selection. Every time I've had a losing session, it's been at a table where one player's strategy is to straddle every blind and cap preflop in the dark. I simply don't sit down with a deep enough stack to handle the large swings that come from playing huge family pots... all it takes is two premium hands losing at showdown to bust my stack. When I see this type of game occurring, I simply take my chips and move to another table. I can generally find one that is amenable to my style. Just don't get frustrated during those days when you play for eight hours and just about break even. A few large pots lost can eliminate profits just as fast as you build them.
