I mean, that ever happen to you? You know, all of a sudden you feel like you can't miss? 'Cause I dreamed about this game, fat man. I dreamed about this game every night on the road. Five ball. brvheart 1,752
Side note: I ran into a guy that teaches English Lit at the local community college and asked him what he thought of DFW. His exact quote, "Who? I've never heard of him." I fear for our youth.

Just because he teaches english lit, doesn't mean he reads contemporary english lit, I knew a couple of English majors in college who hadn't read almost anything written after 1800, certainly not by choice. Also, I will refrain from talking about Michael Crichton, out of respect for the dead, but more out of respect of fans of his that are probably bummed.
LongLiveYorke 38
RIP Michael CrichtonMost well known for Jurassic Park and ER66 Years oldF*$k Cancer!Crichton one of my favorite writers. Yes, I'm very well studied in literature and yes, I'm absolutely saying this with a straight face. He was excellent at what he did and made some of the most entertaining books of all time. Moreover, he played a large role in getting me interested in science. He'll be missed.

dolfan 0
The Sphere was awesomeI had a period where I read absolutely nothing for years, and then a friend recommended this. After that, I started reading "regularly" again and have branched out much further than Michael Crichton. But I'll always remember that book as the one that started it. dolfan 0
The Sphere was a great book. Too bad the movie didn't do it justice.I convinced a bunch of people to see it with me based on the book, even though I knew it would be as good. I just didn't think it would be that bad. I apologized after the movie.
vbnautilus 48
Allright so this guy was really only well-known within neuroscience, but you might find this interesting anyways. The famous patient H.M died. He had his medial temporal lobes taken out surgically and became severely amnesic. The study of this guywas a huge milestone in neuropsychology.http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/05/us/05hm....wanted=1&hp
