ajs510 122
Friends don't let jackasses drink and drive.I keep seeing pics and vid of that crash scene...there's just nothing left of that car at all. Drinking and driving is stupid all on it's own, but drinking and driving recklessly is basically playing russian roulette, only a matter of time and circumstance before you're in the morgue or prison, hopefully by yourself. chrozzo 19
in a way he had that coming...living that lifestyle. still have to feel bad for his parents and the family of his passenger...hope this might serve as a lesson to kids who are fans of his. i know it probably wont, but a few might take it to heart. XXEddie 0
I don't feel worse for the passenger's family then Dunn's family.Just like Dunn made a decision to drive drunk (possibly) and recklessly (likely). His friend chose to get in the car with him. Unless Dunn held a gun to his head, or hid the fact he was drunk, I don't see how one can feel bad for the passenger like he couldn't have avoided it and it's all Dunn's fault. king_tanner 84
It seems like there is a lot of uproar over Ebert's tweet. I don't disagree with his tweet, I've had friends affected by drunk drivers. There also should be a level of sensitivity though. Would Ebert post something similar if one of his kid's or family members died from a DUI? Definitely not, so he should think about the guy's friends and family before posting something like that. Especially since Ebert is famous and all his comments are crtitiqued. Hardly anyone would even know he did that if TMZ hadn't carried it as a banner story. I think in the realm of celebrities opening their mouths when they probably shouldn't, publicly calling drinking and driving (which Dunn most definitely did, according to all who were in attendance with him Sunday night...the degree to which he was intoxicated is the only question) a foolish thing to do is pretty low on my STFUfamousperson-meter. Anything controversial he has to say is going to get attention. I also look at his movie reviews all the time. I still like him and don't think of him any differently, it just came off a tad insensitive
digitalmonkey 929
I don't think being famous (or whatever term you choose) should mean you have to keep your mouth shut. Everyone has the right to speak. There may be consequences for what is said, but you should still be allowed to say it.What do you think, Mel?
SilentSnow 1
I don't know why people are so upset. Dunn drove drunk. Drove with another person in a car. Drove like a complete and utter jackass. 110 is crazy when you are sober. Doing it while drunk goes well into criminal territory. What he did was about as close to murder as you can get without actually calling it that. People like him do not deserve any sort of a hero's burial.

People like him do not deserve any sort of a hero's burial.Well, I think the reason some people are upset is because they knew him personally, and many other people felt like they knew him from watching his shows and movies. So I don't think the circumstances of his death will really change how upset people are. It's not like he was raping children - he was driving drunk, and thankfully the only people hurt were the people in the car. I'm with you that drunk driving is basically the worst thing ever (short of child-rape, of course), but I don't think it's fair to say he pretty much murdered the passenger. The passenger got into the car of his own free will and had likely been drinking with Dunn all night. It's not like he was a hitchhiker who had never met Dunn and didn't know that he was drunk. Timmy... seriously.I thought I was being obviously hyperbolic when I said it's "basically the worst thing ever." I don't actually have a list of the worst things a person can do, and if I did have or create such a list, drunk-driving would not be #2. Child-rape wouldn't even be #1 either. I'll take a gander at a top 10:1. Genocide2. Serial child murder3. Serial child rape4. Serial murder5. Serial aggravated rape (rape + battery) [only to differentiate from date-rape or statutory rape]6. Political assassination7. etc, you get the ideaI do think drunk driving is serious though, but I mean, I do also have perspective on how bad it is.
