Who Died Today?

Recommended Posts

I'm not totally sure what you're saying here, but I'm just going to assume that it's what I'm thinking and agree with you.
I was gonna mention priests and altar boys and fellatio but I didn't want this to turn into a "my priest is hung more than your priest" debate.

He's colder than that, now.

When DFW died, Chorozzo made a disrespectful comment, and I slowly willed him into the grave over it. I didn't love Prince less than I loved DFW.

jesus would somebody fucking just die already so we can get a break in the music snobbery here?

Good Game, Sparky Anderson.
Growing up as a fan of the big red machine to me Sparky is what I think of when I hear baseball manager. RIP George.

What are 'complications from dementia' anyway? Did he drink a bottle of bleach or wander into a lake? That dude always looked 90 years old. Shocked that he was still alive.

Why?
Because "dementia" is a depressing state to think of him in. If he'd died of anal butt cancer, they would probably just say cancer. It just seems to me that nobody's gonna be like, 'Oh good, now I am satisfied that I know what he died of. It was dementia.' Nobody would remember 'heart failure,' but dementia it's like, Oh poor Sparky wandering off into lakes, like scram said.

Also a depressing state: Dead.Another depressing state: Iowa.I find it odd that you draw this distinction for dementia.Edit: Apparently Iowa is, like, the 4th least depressed state. I just put it in there because of brv. Utah is the most depressed state.2nd Edit: Not saying brv is depressed, just that he notices when his state is mentioned. If it was the former, I would've said Kansas.3rd Edit: Good talk.

The people who raise money and fight for dementia awareness (that seems funny...I'm an ass) probably appreciate the mention.

I'm sure VB can answer this better, but Alzheimer's is deadly, it deteriorates part of the brain. That is the extent of my knowledge on the subject.
You guys both make fair points. Maybe what I'm most surprised at is that the term "dementia" hasn't been politically corrected into something less retarded-sounding.
dementia ≠ alzheimer's, although dementia is a symptom of alzheimer's. dementia is a neurological symptom that can result from several different kinds of degenerative brain diseases (and a few other things). there's nothing politically incorrect about the term dementia.

So then tim's concerns are well-founded, since it would be odd to say someone died "of complications from" a symptom, as opposed to a disease.

That wasn't tim's concern.Though I guess that's true...the only true deadly complication of dimentia would be, you know, walking out a window because you think it's a door, or whatever.
