Odd Tournament Question -- Away Players

Recommended Posts

I got registered for a freeroll for something or other. First place was over $700, with around 500 entrants, so it was worth playing. It was soon obvious that only two of the people at my table had showed up -- so basically, I was playing heads up with 7 extra people paying blinds. So the strategy question: how do I play this? Aggressively, like heads up play, or semi-cooperatively, stealing blinds until enough dead money busts?More specifically, the other guy made a small raise, I reraised him with AK, he shoves. Call and take a chance on doubling, or fold and keep stealing blinds?

Lol, i was thinking about thios yesterday when i entered the PS daily freeroll and no joke, i was at a table where everyone apart from me was sitting out.Tbh, i steal all their chips and when they get back tell them they were blinded out.Seriously though, i don't fold AK heads up.

Technically you aren't HU. Even so, its freeroll so A-K is well ahead most of the time. You could easily argue folding and keep on stealing the blinds.

Yeah, it's not really heads up. One other active player with tons and tons of dead money means you can play very tight when it comes to playing for stacks against the other active player. I would gambol with AK there because if I lose I go find another tournament, but if I win, I am the only active player at the table and can now steal to my heart's content.

That just gives me a headache. Freeroll or not, I don't think we should all have to endure people not showing up. I think after 5-10 minutes of inactivity, it oughta remove them from the table. My $.02

haha... make a deal... tell him he can steal half the blinds and you take the other.
I had them disable my chat, so that wasn't an option, but up until this hand we were sort of soft-playing each other, staying pretty much even the whole way. With the number of people out, once I got up about $1000 from where I started, I could've probably sat out and made $20 or $30, so I really didn't want to get involved in a hand... but AK.....
