THE 5,000th POSTMany times in the course of human history, milestones have been realized, moments in time that transform the future. This is not one of them.I of course realize the foolishness of making a big deal out of the number of posts a person has, esp when my numbers are middle of the pack in OT section at best. I have decide to make this post about my favorite subject: Me.I am a middle aged upper middle class business owner with a great wife, 4 kids, 3 grandkids and a dog. I own enough real estate to make me a millionaire twice over with the equity, but my bank account is just upper middle class.I spent 16 months in a rehab when I was 15, been clean and sober 26+ years. I attempted suicide when I was 14, I failed. I accepted Christ 20 years ago, and have been a church going man ever since. I was kicked out of school in the 9th grade, and had to pick up school credits where I could. I got my adult high school diploma when I was 19 at a junior college when I passed US government with a D+. I never once walked on a high school campus as anything other than a visitor.I play poker for fun because I do not have it in me to attack weakness, exploit people going on tilt etc. I do not have a problem if you can do this, I can't. So I play for fun and low stakes so that I never allow this fun game to ruin my relationship with others.I try to have fun on here, and not hurt people. I have failed at this in regard to politics and supporting the troops. I have said things that I regret, but I will not erase them because I use every opportunity I can to keep my ego in check. My ego is out to get me. AA taught me this. This post would be a good example of feeding my ego. Look up dichodomy. Also tell me how to spell it.I decorate parties for a living, and do balloons often at these events. Being a balloon person has taught me the secret to business, find something no one else wants to do, and do it well. You will be a financial success doing this. But I also know that having money removes some pressures, and adds others. My kids are older and I have a difficult time dealing with the desire to give them so much, while making them do it on their own so they can be self sufficient. Each of my kids thinks I am more generous with the other 3 than with them, so I think I am doing okay. I'll know more in 30 years.I have really had a good time posting here. Most of you are good people that I would really enjoy hanging with. But I am entering my busy season, and will spend a lot less time here. Next summer I will slow down and spend more wasteful time here.That is if I don't retire first. My wife and I are very close to putting my business up for sale and living off the $10K a month my commercial rental properties will generate. Between my investment land, and the value of my business ( over a million in sales every year with a 30% net profit margin) I think I can leave the rat race to you younger guys.
