Tiltinagain 973
And besides we only don't pay the bill because we laugh so hard at their " Pay or Else" letters they send us every month.Pay or Else..... Not to mention the "If you don't make acceptable payment arrangements, we could choose to garnish your wages" threats. Please Did some assclown mention the US involvement with the UN? Seriously? Our first step should be to evict the UN from American soil.QFMFT There wouldn't BE a UN if it wasn't for us. Piss on 'emYEAH THATS RIGHT. WE ARE BIGGER THAN YOU. :flexes manly...ly:holy crap, I made somebody's signature Well, congratulations and thanks.I may be the only person on the forum that laughed at that but, even now, I can't read that line without laughing out loud. pokerdan97 0
The reason the dollars are near even is just the beginning for the introduction of the new currency, the amero as well as the North America Union with US/Canada/Mexico basically joining together these countries. Just like what happened with the European Union/Euro.

fleung22 1
I can't believe this has turned into a "which country is better" discussion. We don't make fun a Canadian money because of the exchange rate, we make fun of it because it has lots of weird colors and funny pictures on it. And because the rest of the world uses the metric system, which just means more conversions for our little brains.FYP
fleung22 1
you know what's funny? while you guys are having this silly debate of whose countries better I thought I'd throw in the most common response from my fellow Canadians from the dollar parity."Let's go to the States for X!"X = shopping, vacation, etc.all love from your high commissioner

rog 0
Couple of thoughts. It doesn't really matter where the dollars are relative to one another, but the sudden change can have positive and negative effects. Canadian companies that recognize revenues in USD, but pay most expenses (like payroll) in CDN are taking a huge hit right now. Companies that import US components and technologies are having it good. Unfortunately, Canada is a net exporter to the US, so I tend to think this is going to hurt more than help.Second, anyone who thinks the US is going through yet another housing bubble has their head in the sand. It's less about housing markets, and more about credit/lending markets and practices. US money lenders are starting to say conditions for lending are as bad as they've ever been since the great depression. GOP or Dems...it doesn't matter. It's going to get worse in the next term long before it ever gets better. The next president is going to end up history's fall guy, and a lot of people are going to suffer. This is big news internationally. I'm surprised to see so little understanding of it here on a predominantly US forum.
Scroom 436
Why is the Canadian dollar eating shit so badly? http://www.xe.com/cu...&to=USD&view=5Y
The Ocho 970
It's not just the Canadian. Our dollar has strengthened against almost everything in the last year.
FCP Bob 1,320
Canadian dollar has become a Petro Currency. All commodities including oil boomed pretty much and that boom is over now. The Economist @TheEconomist 15h15 hours ago In 2000 manufacturing accounted for 18% of Canada's GDP. By 2013 it had dropped to 10% http://econ.st/1VdYPJ2

David_Sklansky 1,903
What I don't understand is how Canada has the best country and best people, and yet the worst whisky. Especially given that it's cold, wouldn't you rather have a more robust flavor?

Scroom 436
It's a massive long term buy, along with the Australian dollar. I have very rarely 'made calls' on this site but I am always correct. The commodities nadir is irrational. Oil too.
