nutzbuster 7
http://www.6star-antivirus-reviews.com/?Re...irus%20softwareI just installed the Shield and dumped AVG. I like it. Also run adaware (free) and SUPER Antispyware (free). Good programs.
checkymcfold 0
as someone who lost most of his bankroll to getting hacked this february....kaspersky for virus. low memory footprint, best protection out there outside of custom solutions. norton sucks. bloatware, and the keylogger that got me got through norton. as for spyware programs, you don't really need them if you use kaspersky. avast, while the best of the free stuff, is not entirely safe and not even as good as norton. it's also bloatware, as well.use firefox ONLY for browsing, and do not install the activex plugin. if you can, do most of your browsing on a machine you don't use for poker.also, get a router that has a hardware firewall if you can afford it. shit can't get to you if it can't even get to your local network. quayqi said this already . checkymcfold 0
I am confused about this part. I currently have a router since I plug my laptop into it as well. How do I know if I have a hardware firewall?the short answer is that if you spent more than 200 bucks on your router, it probably has one, if not, it probably doesn't, but don't worry about it. most good antivirus programs can handle virtually all even intranetwork attacks with their software firewall. this is something even avast and norton can do adequately . Ouch-8s 4
Any router, regardless of cost, will add a level of security by using NAT. This is a simple hardware firewall, and is very effective. Most hardware firewalls that Checky is talking about will do a better job of protecting both inbound and OUTbound traffic, but NAT is sufficient for most home use.But don't listen to me, I'll just screw up your internet connection again

RDog 0
Okay, so I got the new computer, downloaded Kaspersky, Firefox etc. But when I am using Firefox I keep getting messages at the top saying a plugin needs to be installed. I click it and it is Adobe Flash Player. I then try to download it and it says it can dl because Firefox is running. I close Firefox and it still says same thing. Help? Java worked like the 4th or 5th time too. So is there anything I can do for my connection on my end? I am getting to the point where I am considering switching to a different connection if nothign can be done. Any recommendations?
solderz 0
Windows firewall is okay, but has some pretty severe issues, which I won't go into because it is technospeak. For a great, free firewall program download Comodo. It is far superior to the windows firewall and can be set to a greater number of presets to avoid the email attachment problem mentioned above. If you use AVG and Comodo, you should never have a problem.Comodo Link

RDog 0
Man, this sucks. Brand new pretty damn good computer and still when I stream video, it has to re-buffer every 30 seconds or so. That would be connection related right? Anyone with any possible solutions, very much appreciated.
nutzbuster 7
I'm currently battling a serious issue at the moment. It seems I can't start up Firefox and when it does open it's as if there is a second phantom browser running at the same time behind it. I know that sounds ridiculous, but my pooter is running like totalshit right now (I'm on the Mac at the moment....I really like this computer btw...:hidesheadinshameface:)Anyhoo, gonna take a look at it soon with Mark and if we can findout what it causing this I will post as to how we fixed it just for FYI purposes. RDog 0
Yeh, buffering typically is a connection thing. So what are my options at this point? I know my connection is bad because when I am on the laptop with wireless it actually drops the connection often (probably every 2-3 minutes). I fricking hate computers.
