Sbrugby Says Online Nl Players Are Much Tougher...

Recommended Posts

PokerLizard: Who do you think are better - the online players or the live pros?Townsend: I think that distinction is getting really gray now. I mean, look at a guy like Patrick Antonius . He plays as much live as he does online now. Is he an online player? Well, he started playing online but I think in the future it's going to be very common for people to start online 'cause it's so much less intimidating than going into a casino. You don't have to come to Vegas. You can just kind of try it out in the comfort of your home. I think that distinction is just going to be really gray. But as for ‘best in the world', it's kind of hard to say. In no-limit hold 'em, without a doubt, the online players. I mean, just they're years and years ahead of the live players. Live game no-limit hold 'ems are very weak. And Pot-Limit Omaha online is much, much tougher and bigger. And then limit hold 'em is much stronger online.

He lost a million during the one session, but said he was still up a few hundred K from that trip.

His interview in bluff he said He believes there are more solid online players than live players. but when comparing the best, there is no difference from online to live, they are the best no matter which situation.he also states he thinks he is the best live and online at NLHE cash games. which is think is a pretty brave thing to say considering he has only been playing high stakes for roughly 18 months.

Sure is a brave thing to say. Whether it's true or not, I don't know but he's just asking for the other nosebleed players to try to take him down.

of course he thinks he's the best, so does Durr, so does Antonius... these guys are supremely confident so nothing knew in that statement. I read recently that Phil Galfond thinks he's the best out there and he has only just moved in the nose bleed stakes!

What constitutes to being the best, or at least one of the best? Personally, I think it can be summed up into one word, consistency. Winning in the toughest games over the long run (at least 5 years) would seem pretty consistent to me. Having a big bankroll and playing high stakes does not make you the best. If that were the case, then practically every doctor or lawyer in the country could sit down in the big game and call themselves that.

I think he still won 300k from the live session in Vegas. Please correct me if I am wrong.
That is relevant.

NO you didnt FMP.There are seriously more better players per capita, (i used capita as a loose term here). But to say its only because more people play online, is false.Online players are the new age "true players" almost every single forum member of 2+2, P5's FCP etc... plays or did play online. That dedication to the game and love of the game is what makes them better, by increasing their skill, following strat, reading insightful blogs etc..People who only play poker live without any interest in poker via internet, have limited hands played, limited resources to better their understanding, and generally think the game is only as difficult as the best player in the room.

He withdrew loads on FTP but lost what he left, then redeposited. Went down in stakes in HU NLHE not because he couldn't afford it, but because he wanted to get his HU game back on track. He was (is) still playing the highest stakes ring games in NLHE and never stopped playing the high stakes PLO O/8.Christ there is so much written about him that is wrong, or misconstrued.

Ha although that picture of that chick is hot!!! It is not the wedding crashers chick(Isla Fisher) It is Kate Beckinsale from Underworld, Serendipity, Vacancy, Click, Pearl Harbor and she is absolutely perfect. Far and away and above anyone else so get it right from now on. Ha. And yes I am obsessed.
