serge 904
I think that's probably what's going to end up happening, both Buffalo and Carolina will make it, one of the Rangers or Montreal won't. Buffalo is very capable of taking Washington out in a 1st round matchup, I think we'd have a harder time with Philadelphia and I flatly want no part of Boston.PLEASE ONE TIME
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Leafs will make the playoffs pretty easily next season, IMO.I sincerely hope so, but I dont really believe this will be easy or even probable. I hope this year is different, but Ive seen these endings before. We all have.
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
The year the Pens won the Cup they were out of a Playoff spot in mid February...There is no reason not to believe that a team like the Hurricanes or Sabres who have world class goaltending cant have a legitimate chance at a Stanley Cup.I think this is the key. The goaltending. Cam Ward has been nothing short of phenomenal this year. Staal is great, Skinner is amazing, but Canes are nowhere without Ward. Hence why you have to wonder if Reimer is the real deal, what happens next with TML?And your right, sometimes the momentum leading you into the playoffs is huge.My opinion always has been that many times, the "better" team doesnt necessarily win the series/Cup. It can come down to luck, timing with injuries, and who knows what else. And often, a goalie will play crazy good for 8 weeks, and get his team there by sheer will. Scary thing is, Reimer looks like he may just be that type.
digitalmonkey 929
I'm not looking for a discussion on the matter, but...Perhaps Derswick should have posted his comments in a different thread, but it's laughable how quickly he was confronted especially when Serge makes similar posts quite often with no comments from any of you. I could care less about people trolling at this point, confronting them is only giving them exactly what they're after. Attention and irritation. Let the mods deal with it if it's actually a legit issue, that's what the button is for.

Its all Derswick does. And you know well enough that if someone else came on, and all they did was write crap about the Habs+try to needle you, Steve+I would say the exact same thing. Neither one of us cares about you Hatfields+McCoys. And fwiw, I dont really get upset, I just think its a waste of a good forum, and doesnt help make it better.
Dubey 1,035
I think it has more to do with the fact that Derswick almost never posts in the hockey forum. 90% of his posts in here are taking a jab at the leafs, in the Leafs forum.

Jason12 0
If somebody told me the Leafs would finish with 86-90 points and give the Bruins a pick that may not be top 10 im not sure I wouldnt have taken it. Unfortunately for the Leafs the teams around them have been amongst the best in the league in the past few weeks making a comeback impossible. Is this year different than all the others that the Leafs make a late season run? Probably considering the age of the team....I would be happy with the current group moving into the 2011-12 season. With Reimer, Kadri, Colbourne and Gardiner the Leafs have 4 of the top 50 prospects in hockey so the future is bright in Leaf land.
gruven 530
Leafs will make the playoffs pretty easily next season, IMO.I disagree VEHEMENTLY!!!!!! But only with the word 'easily'. First of all, I dont think for 90% of the teams in the NHL that 'easily' is ever a lock. Secondly, I think the leafs have done an excellent job of putting themselves in the position to make the playoffs. But some things need to go right:1) Reimer has to be at least 85% as good as he has been this season. I think he can, but I don't consider it a lock by any means.2) C-Mac has to be resigned.3) Mike Komisarek has to either regain his form or be Fingered. While Schenn has been tremendously good this season, and Aulie looks to be on his way,as well as Phaneuf finding some of his old touch the past month, the rest of the leaf D is questionable. Not necessarily bad (okay, Lebda is BAD!), but there are legitimate questions.4) Lupul has played great so far for Toronto. If he can play this way next year injury free, that would be very big.5) Sign a centre. But don't give up the future for one. They have the money. Offer more, for less term.6) sign another goalie. Giguere like would be good, without the salary. If most of those things can come together, I would consider them a 7-8 place finisher in the conference without feeling like I was stretching the truth. In fact, I would probably consider them the same odds to finish 7-8 next year as I have for them to finish 10th or worse for the previous 67 years...
