doox 15
Is it really considered a loss when the Leafs never seemed to show up in the first place?
serge 904
Leafs made their final cuts yesterday and this the team that we will start with...1st line....Sundin--Blake and Antropov2nd line....Kilger...Tucker and Pohl3rd line....Stajan..Steen and Ponikarovsky4th line....Devereaux, Belak and Bates BattagliaKris Newbury also made the team...The Leafs will start with 8 dmanMccabeKaberleKubinaWhiteWozniewskiGillStralmanKronwallToskala and Raycroft the goalies....Also to note is that Bell's suspension will begin today and he will be back in early november, when hopefully Wellwood will be ready to go as well...GO LEAFS GO
Zach6668 513
I'm not thrilled by those lines. It'll make a difference when Wellwood and Bell are back. The 2nd line looks terrible, imo, and there's a hole on the right wing on the first line.I like the 3rd line though, and the 4th line is well, it's a 4th line. digitalmonkey 929
Antropov on the top line?!?!He must have some very incriminating pictures of someone.

Zach6668 513
I strongly disagree.Fisher is a beast. Eaves is very good. Foligno, a rookie, was impressive in camp, and should fit in with those two.Vermette is a great player, imo. Kelly is solid, and well, Neil is Darcy Tucker (minus the PP time). The 4th line is a 4th line.Ottawa 1st Line >>>>>>> Toronto 1st LineOttawa 2nd Line >>>>>>> Toronto 2nd LineOttawa 3rd Line > Toronto 3rd LineOttawa 4th Line <> Toronto 4th LineIMO.Even with Wellwood and Bell. serge 904
Wellwood will eventually be in the lineup...I would have the second line as Welwood centring Tucker and Poniand third line Steen,Stajan and BellI will take those lines against Ottawa anyday...Fisher is a beast you say...Not even you can think he is better than Wellwood...and NEIL IS DARCY TUCKER...are you kidding meDarcy scored 24 goals in 56 games last year....Neil scored 12....Please dont compare a goon with Tucker. Zach6668 513
I'm undecided on Bell, and what he can actually bring to this team. I'm sure he's an upgrade from like Battaglia, though.
Zach6668 513
serge, sorry, see my edit re: tucker and neil. They are both goons, but Toronto isn't very deep, so Tucker gets 2nd line minutes, and PP time.

I'm sure he's an upgrade from like Battaglia, though.Bell is a wildcard...All the interviews i have seen with him he seems to be saying the right things and has the right attitude to change his life around...He scored 25 goals on a pretty crappy Chicago team before he had his off ice problems...and he was an 8th overall pick so the kid has some raw talent...he could either fizzle and run into more problems...or he could become a 30 goal scorer in this league...As a Leaf fan I hope for the second scenario... serge 904
Paul Maurice has named Andrew Raycroft the starting goalie tonight..Only in Toronto is their a goalie controversy before the season starts..My theory is he will start Toskala in Ottawa, so if he lets one softie in the fans dont get on him early....Then he will go with the hot hand...Game day Prediction...LEAFS 6 OTTAWA
WestcoastCanuck 0
My theory is he will start Toskala in Ottawa, so if he lets one softie in the fans dont get on him early....Real smart move, trading high picks and giving big money to a goalie who can't handle the pressure of opening night. Sounds like a great trade.
WestcoastCanuck 0
To be positive, I predict Kubina could have a much better year.

Sounds like a great trade. As opposed to starting Raycroft, who proved LAST year he couldnt handle the pressure of playing at home. THIS year, with someone PUSHING him, and the home opener, no pressure at all..... ROFL

serge 904
Of course all the cynics will second guess every move by Maurice...I am pretty sure at the end of the year you will all see that Toskala should play a majority of the games...i am predicting 55-
