serge 904
Here we go again Leaf fans..This year there is a lot of optimism that has been generated among the Leafs Nation...Coming off a very disappointing 2006-2007 season where the Leafs JUST and i mean JUST missed the playoffs, there is a lot to be optimistic for this year. The Leafs led by their young GM John Ferguson JR made some big off season moves to help this club. Acquring Vesa Toskala not only improved our goaltending situation, it will also give the franchise in a position to have trading power with 3 solid goalies in the system in Toskala,Raycroft and hot prospect Justin Pogge. The other major move the Leafs made is adding that elusive big scorer on the top line...It has been said for years Sundin hasnt had a true goal scorer on his wing and Jason Blake might be the guy. I personally believe that Blake is a better fit with the playmaking Kyle Wellwood and it remains to be seen how Coach Paul Maurice will have the lines set up.The other wildcard is Mark Bel..Bell was a highly touted 1st round pick with Chicago and put up 25 goals a few years ago before the trade to San Jose...After having personal problems off the ice, if Bell gets his act together he will be a major player on this team...Lets go Leaf Fans..Lets band together and lets do it this year...Just over two years since this post was made..Look for another exciting preview in the next week . serge 904
great game by the Leafs..Stalberg and Bozak impressed me...Hanson as well..Allison didnt look out of place..Kadri and Tlusty will be front line players in the future...Tlusty probably sooner. And dont mess with us, because we will beat the shit out of u. Dubey 1,035
watched the first 2 periods last night. Was very impressed by Bozak and Stalberg. Was also impressed with the play of beauchemin, finger, and exelby on Defense.Kadri didn't do much while I was watching, but I understand he looked pretty good in the third once he got put on a line with some better players. Tlusty also didn't impress me but I still have highe hopes for him.I disagree on Allison though, I thought he was pretty brutal but I'll give him a few games before I make up my mind on him.As for Gustavsson, here is my understanding of the situation: There is no groin pull afaik. He had a minor heart procedure that involves them making an incision in the groin area. He cannot play until the incision is healed up. 2-3 days max.I'm pretty excited for the season to start. I wish there was a way for us to have Bozak, Stalberg, and Hanson playing as our third line this year, but I'm not sure if Burke is willing to make the necessary demotions for it to happen, unfortunately. Dubey 1,035
Yeah I have my fingers crossed for Kessel too, I just hope we only have to give up 1 first rounder. Either way, kessel is 21 years old, and the odds of drafting a player of his caliber with any pick in the 1st round in the next 2 years is a long shot at best, so I don't mind trading draft picks for him.Agreed on Bozak, Hanson, and Gusto. Bozak and Gusto are like freebie first round picks. I've been really happy with Burke's moves so far, I'm looking forward to seeing what our team can do with some decent goaltending this year.
