tskillz187 0
Don't check bottom set on turn.(I'll write more later)Edit: The flop minraise is awful too, it's hard to see without being converted. If you look at the sticky at the top of NL forums zach has posted a converter. Then it's easier to follow the hand.
shynepo3 0
I'm confused.....how much money do you have and who are you in the hand?
_OutKicked_ 0
sorry, I mistakenly chose hide identity on FTR and posted initially. Now it is returning some errors so i put the FTP HH.
tskillz187 0
It looks like you got scared of Mikian being huge? I think his likeliest hands are 67, 78ish somewhere in that range. The short could have a whole bunch of stuff and he's so short it really doesn't matter. You need to try and extract some value against the other big stack here, I'd bet the turn and bet the river, it's not likely he has a 4 or 9 in his hand. Plus I'd reraise to a real amount on the flop.

Plus I'd reraise to a real amount on the flop. You are correct sir. I was fearful of Mikian. I wasn't worried at all about the SS and was trying to isolate him. The table had been pretty weak tight so i felt that putting in a second bet would help define Mikian's hand. I didn't expect a call. I thought he'd raise (where i'd likely have to fold) or fold.As it played out, I was happy to check it down, but I regret not betting a bit more on the flop. 89 was my initial fear out of Mikian, but as he never showed aggression and having played otb, I also put 66 and 77 in his range. What do you think Mikian had? I would have raised huge on the flop to protect my hand and get people with an over pair committed. I'm not sure what your flop raise wanted to do? You didn't raise enough to gain a lot of information and you gave a person with a hand like pair with a straight draw good odds. The turn and river should have been bet because it was pretty obvious you had the best hand. I don't see someone with a straight/higher set checking the turn and for sure not the river. You missed a lot of value out of this hand.
sabes99 0
NEVER minraise this flop, with the drawing possibilities you want to get a lot of money in thereas played, make about a pot-sized bet on the turnyou can't really bet the river once that card comes
NoBBiR 0
Minraising the flop was stupid. Not betting the turn was too. On the river, I think I'm always checking it down since he's probably never calling a bet with anything you beat.
_OutKicked_ 0
Thanks guys, I guess I lost a ton of value here. I really didn't think my hand was good until the river, but evidently I misread the situation pretty badly. I'm just getting back to playing a bit of cash games so I'll likely have some more hands that I'll misplay and share. What sucks is I lost a $250 pot a few hands later with AA < KK AIPF to this nitbag playing 9 tables. Wish I got paid off more in the first hand now...oh well. Lesson learned. Thanks again.
