Stupid Things You've Seen

Recommended Posts

I posted this back when it happened...Live Game TxNL $1 & $2 Blinds $100 Max buy-inI am sitting in the Big Blind having a very good night so far. I have about $350 in front of me. I look at my cards to see 6/7. Guy in middle position makes it $12 and gets 3 callers. I figure: $10 to win $50. I call.Flop comes 3/4/5 rainbow. I check. Original better tosses out $15 and gets one caller. I call too. Turn is a 2. There is one card of each suit. Original better tosses in $25. The guy who had called earlier says: "Well, I can predict who has an Ace!!!" and mucks. I hate when people talk about a hand in progress, but this may help me. I ponder for a moment, but don't over do it, and call. The river is an Ace. Loud mouth guy says: "Oh, man, I could have had a chop!!!" I hesitate for a moment and toss out $25 as if I am making the guy pay to see a chop......this is where it gets stupid......guy hesitates for a couple of seconds gets a defiant look and says: "I can play that game too... I'm all in."He has over $200 left in front of him.Of course I call and he shows A/J. He went all in to play the board!!!Wow.

Live SNG at Borgata if I recallBlinds 50/100 P1 raises to 350 UTG....gets 1 caller (P2) on the button...flop comes 777...P1 leads out for 500...P2 raises to 1500 and P1 moves in for 2k more and P2 calls....P1 instantly mucks his hand before the board is completed....so then P2 does too...Dealer immediately goes to retrieve both hands because he can and they are accessible to show down face up and deal out the rest of the board. So P2 starts bitching about turning over cards even after he is informed that the rules are such that this is the case in tournament play....well it turns out P1 had Q9 and P2 called him with Q3 (wtf?) and a deuce hits on the turn and the river is a 9...not that he needed it but it was wacky shenanigans for certain.
Maybe I'm missing something, but as soon as P1 mucks his cards, P2 is the winner. However, P2 should have sat there with his cards until the pot was pushed to him before mucking.

home game. CO+2 raises, i call w/ xx in the CO, button calls, BB calls.flop comes A94, it gets checked around. turn is another A. CO+2 bets 1/2 pot and i smooth call. river is a 4. CO bets 1/3 pot and i put in a good sized raise. eventually he calls and i say "bluff", he tables Q9. later he said he wondered why it took him so long.:club::D:D:D:D
I READ YOUR SOUL. Don't be bitter, haha.I'm pretty sure on the end I led 35 for value and you raised like 100 more. Should have snapped called :).

The stupidest thing I ever saw was something that I actually did. The first time I ever played a live tournament was at Alladin.A few levels into it I limped with a marginal hand and saw a flop with three other players. Post flop it was checked to me and I had bottom pair and no draw. I wanted to throw out a pot size bet and see where my pair stood so I reached down and grabbed two $100 chips and threw them out. The dealer announced "Bet is $2000". I grabbed the wrong chips. When the dealer said the amount my face went pale when I realized I led out bottom pair for 2k. The other players read me cold and went over the top and I folded.I went busto about 5 minutes later.

He went all in so that he wouldn't have to chop. I guess he was right, but just not in the way he was hoping. It's actually not a terrible play.

At fallsview 5/5 a while back.Stacks, UTG 600, Button 700UTG raises to 20, Button pops it to 60 and UTG flats. Board is 2-5-8, UTG checks, Button makes it 90, and UTG immediately makes it 250.Button tanks, tanks, keeps muttering, "I know he probably has a set", and "Theres no way my pair is good", finally after 5 mins he says "Alright if you can beat Aces, I guess I have to pay you off later in the hand anyways". He then shoves, and UTG snap calls...with KK.

True. It was just one of those moments where I am thinking to myself "I have the stone nuts - can this be real?"

I got the best one hands down AINEC:James woods, Looshle, and I are playing 10/20 nl at commerce.Don't know preflop action, but Woods ends up OOP on the flop and leads like 200 with like 2.5k behind, guy makes it 700 on a 5s6sQd board (or something similar to that).James Woods thinks for ever and flips over his cards, shows 7s3s I say "ooo tight laydown" he says "no no no, I'm not folding........................I call"Turn is a brick 10h or something.... woods checks, other guy OBBBBBV moves all in, for about the 1800 Woods had behind...after some thinking, James calls, the other guy shows two pair and Woods spikes the river and starts dancing around like an idiot yelling with his GF. He racks up 2 hands later and leaves. Nice face.
Name dropper. :)I think James knows he's making a donk play but doesn't care about the money. He's probably just nutbarring 10 20 nl. I'm guessing he was drunk.

He goes into the tank for a long time After a while, the dealer looks straight at him and mutters under his breath "he doesn't have it..."
Even dealers hate you and wish you'd leave.

Do you call here without the nuts? Without at least a 6?

On a flop of QQQ (I had AK) in a 10 20 limit game, I bet flop one guy calls, turn is the case Q, I bet guy calls, so I'm thinking he obv has an Ace as well, river is an Ace I bet, guy thinks and thinks then says, I know that Ace hit you and folded.. I smiled and showed him my Ace.
Always be gracious/Never tap the glass............nicely done !

$50 tourney at Showboat in ACA college-age kid had lost a few hands and was down to 800 chips with the blinds at 200-400. He has his chips in one hand, and his cards in the other. The action folds to him, and he simultaneously says "I fold" while throwing his chips in the middle. Everyone is dumbfounded for a second and the dealer says "You're all-in." He looks in the middle and says "I thought that was the hand with my cards in it." Luckily a buddy of his was at the same table and proceeded to give him shit as he busted w/ T3.

maybe i mis understood but how does he busti dont care if he threw his chips in too, he said 'fold', his cards are dead, the dealer should give him the 800 back, and he's done for the hand.

Yep. That would be the correct procedure. "I Fold" trumps the action following it. The dealer was wrong.

I've also played 10-20 w/James Woods, and he really is as terrible as he sounds. He takes ridiculous lines that make no sense and plays a brand of poker that includes aggressive call downs and bold moves ala Vanessa Rousso. He is a really cool guy though and great for the game, and always has a hot chick on his arm, so no one says anything.

Pretty sure in the situation I described that all-in/call situation before the board is dealt out, if the cards are accessible they have to be shown down to prevent any suspected collusion.

Yeah, possibly in that tournament situation, you may be right. I could definitely see a case for that.

dealer is dealing cards..i get K....goes around and he deals me another K only it flips over and EVERYONE see's it.I think sh1t the hand is dead. But everyone agree's that if we put the dead K back at the bottom of the deck we can continue the hand. I proceed to give back the WRONG K because im so nervous (first time at a casino, In Alberta) people kind of start flipping out, because it was pretty obvious, one was Red one was Black. Now i start sweating balls and i feel like shit. Soon after i shut the table up by telling them look, I didnt mean to ****ing do this its my first time here and im nervous.I couldnt believe the guys, at the casion 3 in the afternoon, like do they work? They were ****ing pissed off and almost yelling and shit like i was cheating.I was just uber nervous. I bought into a 50$ tourney lol..Shit was intense for my first time lol. I was chip leader playing good poker too then then i donked all my chips away by being a calling station and chasing dirty flushes://story
