rogermarks 0
There are a lot of internet poker players <21, myself included. I'm curious what would happen if, for argument's sake, I won a WSOP seat through PS. Of course I couldn't play in the event, so would they just give it to second place? It seems like an issue that is going to have to be dealt with at some point, because I know of a TON of underage players, many of which are very, very good. Food for thought I guess. - rw marks
MikeR 0
In all fairness it seems they should give it to the highest placed finisher of age.
smurdogg 0
My buddy won a seat on PPs cruise this year, and he was underage and they told him sorry, they'd keep the money. Fortunately his brother is friends with someone who worked it out, he got cash.

Your buddy is the one who broke the rules, and the 2nd place guy had no say in letting your buddy play, but still gets shafted.
Diabolical 0
isn't it 18 to be in a tourney? i know its 21 to be in a casino (non indian)
TheSkearnel 0
Actually, this exact same thing happened to one of my friends. He won a seat, but is just barely underage. What they ended up doing is giving him the entry for 2006, when he will be 21. He got everything else involved with it, but the entry waits till next year.-Shawn K.
Vertigo 0
Well it's a sticky subject, because the gambling age in Canada is 18 or 19. I'm not sure about Europe, but I think it might be the same. That being said, technically it's legal for under 21's to play in Canada, but a lot of the sites specify that you must be 21 to play on their sites. I think if someone underage wins, they should not receive the prize and be thrown off the site. If the higher ups found out a site was awarding these prizes to minors, they'd be in some sheeeeit. It's just like a 7-11 selling a 17 year old some cigarettes and saying "Yeah, your birthday is in a few months, no big deal."
jasonmason 0
Give it to the 2nd place winner? Some of you guys are ridiculous. If someone under 21 can win a seat, they earned that seat and they should have it waiting for them when they're old enough to play.If someone looks under 21 but walks into a card room and sits at my table, I'm not going to be screaming "check his ID it's fake!" if he wins a pot from me. It's almost like you guys would expect to keep the money you lose in a pot to that guy because he's under 21.

joker12676 0
If you aren't old enough to play in the casino where the tournament is held you shouldn't play in the satellite. If the seat is non-transferable the sites should put this warning up where you register. If its transferable sell it get as much as you can for the seat.If the site says you must be 21 or older to play then your gonna lose your prize just as if you hit a jackpot at a slot in casino if you were underage. jasonmason 0
I heard of Partypoker offering this 19 year old an entry into a tournament at a 18+ indian casino as a substitute to a WSOP seat, I think Turning Stone?
augmented 0
well i'm underage and i always figured that if i got down to the final 2 or whatever i'd just lose on purpose and take the prize money. that seems like the reasonable thing to do.or i could just give the seat to my dad, cause he plays. Mills 0
well, how about just selling the seat?
rogermarks 0
yeah me and a friend talked it over and decided if we somehow got a seat in the wsop, we'd just sell it for like 9k or something.
Guest
yea, i know what everyone means by the underage thing, and if they win they shouldnt win, but if they are good enough TO win, they should get the seat when they are old enough, right now my free 10 dollars from royal vegas is up to 85 in about a week, and im only 17, lower limits(.05/.10 NL) are so easy to get money off of, you just need to pray you dont outdrawn.Would you be mad if you knew i was playing against you at royal vegas?
