Make some sense of this for me please....I'm just guessing, but I think they are going to try and get younger. Trotter is a 1 dimensional LB, he can only stop the run and he's slow. He's much more of a vocal and inpirational leader than he is a go-to guy now. The Eagles have a history of cutting vets as they are entering the twilight of their career, it happened to Hugh Douglas when he played a very similar role for the Eagles D as Trotter does. They want to get faster and younger. I'm assuming he hasn't been impressive and they have about 4 young LBs to look at and didn't know who to cut, so they got rid of a name and are going to develop youth.The Eagles almost always develop their own LBs, Secondary, WRs, and QBs. They look for D-line and O-line help through free agency and early draft picks, but their LBs, secondary, and WRs are usually a bunch of 3rd+ rounders that they make learn the system and get on the field over time.The LB and DL turnover for the Eagles is huge each year, I'm really not that worried about it, I don't think Trot is going to get too many offers in other places, as he is only effective on definite run plays, he's very susceptible to 1st and 2nd down passes.That said I like Trot, I just don't think the Eagles will miss his on field prescence as much as they will miss him being a vocal leader.
