Poker Rooms In Denver

Recommended Posts

The live poker situation in Colorado sucks. My parents live in Boulder, so there might be illegal cardrooms in Denver that I don't know about, but all the casinos are up in Blackhawk, which is about 45 min. west in the mountains. However, there is a 5$ maximum bet law, so all the cash games are either 2-5 or 5-5 spread limit, which is retard poker. For tournaments, go to the Gilpin Casino, which has three daily. You can find the schedule at www.thegilpincasino.com . Weekdays they have smaller buy ins (30-100), and on the weekends they're bigger. The best live action in the 5-5 game at the Lodge Casino, there is so much dead money going in the pot that if you are patient and can handle some sick beats, you can make money. Last time i was there, i played two 4 hour seesion in that game, and won 500 each time, but if you're running bad, you are 100% screwed.

If you have access to the Loveland/Fort Collins Airport, DIA, or Colorado Springs its actually cheaper to fly to Vegas once a month for a weekend or during the week and use some of the mailer comps. Also most of the Casinos in Colorado close at 2am, so action is dry in the early am/afternoon, so why not go to vegas for 300$ (cabs, food, hotel for 3 days) and be able to enjoy some decent sized games? Also the private card rooms up north are pretty horrid, nasty rake (taking it on a starter game of 3-4 players, wtf).

What are the best casinos and poker rooms in and around Denver.
I preferr the Golden Gates Casino. The play is loose and horrible, the waitresses have the best uniforms in town, the tournaments are cheap. I'll be going up there quite a bit in the next month or so and be putting up reviews on my blog if your interested. Also there are a couple card rooms to play at around town but a couple of the more well known ones got busted last year.
