I'm not to sure how long it takes to pm someone but by all accounts Steve had been open about costs when responding to perspective students. I remember clearly the fact that there was a cost was discussed thoroughly the last go around ( but don't think exact cost was ever given) and am shocked at how many people thought this was a free service- that fact never even entered my mind and is quite laughable.

You guys suck. I can't believe the haters ruined the program for those who are interested. Why are you people attacking Steve? If you don't like the cost, don't buy it. Whether or not I was going to be a student, I am very disappointed that this program is no longer offered to help FCPers.

whoa.i really am not quite sure as to what the big deal is here. but boy, i do like numbered lists:1. poguemahone: i thought we chatted/whined about ftops just last night during the nego? if i've ever seemed at all standoffish to you, i apologize, and i'm sure that any other of our group would say the same. sometimes i get very serious about poker and need to really focus, and don't chat, but unless i didn't notice you saying hi, i wouldn't ever not respond. promise. i apologize, too, if our group comes off as at all distant or cliquish, and i for one certainly don't intend to put off that image. indeed, i know for a fact that steve takes his students from fcp because he does like it here and wants to give back in some way. does that mean he can take everyone here on as a student or that everyone would be a good fit for his program? of course not, nor should it. but that things don't work out sometimes shouldn't reflect poorly on either party. i think that's what TJ is trying to say, ultimately--he just plays poker better than he writes :club:.2. money: i am about 99.9% sure that steve makes LESS money per hour talking to us than he would playing poker, unless he's running bad. which he never does, lol. as for not mentioning the cost, i know that my personal reason for not doing that with my "student advertisement" in the forum mostly had to do with me not being sure of the legality/fcp rules regarding doing so. i didn't want to get in trouble. and moreover, i'm not a businessman, nor do i like "doing business" in any conventional sense. i don't want to take on a student or make anyone think i'll take them on before having an entirely informal chat getting to know them, since much of training for both steve and myself is done in a group format. if people don't get along, it simply doesn't work. i had always assumed that steve shared these sentiments. i could be wrong, but i don't really think i am.3. if you're really serious about at least contemplating poker as a lifestyle, 3k should mean literally nothing to you as well. perhaps it might in the short term, which is fine, but being a 10/20 grinder for life who would care about 3k in 10 years would be a horrific lifestyle, imho.4. steve has NEVER tried to take credit for JC's accomplishments in any interaction i've ever had with him. JC is an awesome player, steve is an awesome teacher, and they fit together well. now JC is making lots of money, and that means things worked out. yay! why does that need to become controversial? 5. i sincerely doubt that steve holds any bitterness toward those students he didn't think would be a good fit with him. just sayin.6. logic 101: if a situation doesn't end up great for everyone, it does NOT follow that one party or the other needs to be blamed for anything.

Meh, the only beef I have with this whole thing is Steve seeming to kind of take credit for JC's accomplishments. JC went from low limit/reasonably unsuccessful player to an extremely strong player who is a big winner and he himself should get all the credit for that. Virtually all of JC's success has come from MTT's and Steve himself admits that teaching MTT's is not his forte. I'm cool with using all the testimonials from players who feel like they did get a lot from the program, but I do not think JC's success should be used as a marketing tool.
Yes, I would have to agree with this. This whole taking students things all started off with Steve coming out and saying that he was JC's coach. Without JC, Steve would likely not have been able to recruit students on this site. If you talk to JC or go back to the original threads where Steve is fishing for students, you can sense some displeasure from JC.

As the waves have their way with my pseudo-corpse, and the up down motions trigger memories too faint for me to completely grasp, I hear the sound I've longed for since the day I was thrown overboard by that rowdy group of opulent gentlemen I was hired to sing for, but apparently not to pole dance for. The sound waves enter my ear, the only part of my body not violated on that fateful night, and immediately my heart leaps and bounds like a dear prancing about as its blood-lust quickens it to perpetrate deeds of darkness that the animal kingdom dare not even speak about. "Po tweet, po tweet" I hear, and I quickly and ferociously respond "Po tweet, po po tweet, po po po tweet po tweet", which means (roughly translated, it's hard to do) "Hi my bluebird friend, Hi, I enjoy your company!! I surely do!!". My bluebird friend, summoning the strength provided by a legion of fairies that I guess follow him around continuously, grabs me by the lower spine. An interesting location, to be sure!! But heavens no, I'm not complaining, not now, and probably not ever. Since a few of the graduates have posted their positive experiences and Steve is advertising his program here, I think it is fair that I post my perspective for prospective new students to read.I got very little 1 on 1 time with Steve and do not feel that my time with him was worth the money I paid, although the overall experience was a very enjoyable one and I learned a lot from the other students. Steve doesn't charge much but my issue with the program is that you don't know what you're going to get until you're already in it. Some people got a lot of time with Steve while in my case most of the time I approached him for help I got referred to another student.

WOW, maybe you were one of the ones who paid him less than 3k?

This whole thing makes it sound as though Steve is some shifty guy looking to con people when from all accounts that his students have stated how great the service he provided was. IT is not an obscene amount of money and I suspect that most if not all students of his have benefited from his lessons far more than three thousand dollars from a financial standing. If people don't like what he's offering fine I just don't see how calling his character in to question is at all appropriate.EDIT: People have complained on this site about how players who have made "it" from here generally don't give back to this community and here we have a legitimate high stakes player who regularly contributes here and above that has offered to provide a service to help players improve there games the fact that people are behaving like this towards him is absolutley disgusting to me.
