i don't discuss it unless someone says something. then i semi-justify my move without over-discussing it.
"Sorry sir, flush draws are my specialty" was a line Baxter suggested earlier today..
Woah this thread has grown to epic proportions since I last saw it.How is the luck q?Still proportional to the cube of the number of posts?
We like to think of this as the Hideout, but only with the ppl we enjoy talking to...Nah, It's the one thread I can keep up with that isn't completely dead. And since I will(***) be playing poker again here shortly, and at stakes/formats Q plays, it's a good spot to offer insight and spin yarns back and forth about the bs we encounter.. as well as our occasional luckboxing.(***)---Hold me to this

You should read Psujohn's post in genera: he recently forrayed into some tournaments from cash games, and was bitchin' about outlast 97% of fields to net 2 dollas profit off of $10+ entry fees.Stars tourneys are pretty top-heavy on the payout structure..Oh, and when I come back. I'll be playing $2/4 and $1/2 lo8b, and I'll be on the $1/2 and $.50/1 horse tables. For tourneys, I'll be hitting my dolla ones I love so much and those 2.20 turbo 180s, along with the $4.40s for now. If I can show some consistency in my tourney play (in nlhe), I'll move up to some 5.50s and $25k guarantees and such. I actually took Friday and Sunday off this week, so that should be the first time I'll be noticed on the felt most likely.

lol my welcome back hand, courtest of the 2.20 180s: I don't fold here ever for $2:PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (9 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)MP1 (t1890)MP2 (t910)MP3 (t1345)CO (t1785)Hero (t2345)SB (t2255)BB (t4070)UTG (t4025)UTG+1 (t1440)Preflop: Hero is Button with Qclub.gif, Aclub.gif. UTG calls t50, 2 folds, MP2 calls t50, 2 folds, Hero raises to t245, 1 fold, BB calls t195, UTG folds, MP2 calls t195.Flop: (t810) Tclub.gif, 9spade.gif, Aspade.gif(3 players)BB bets t3825 (All-In), MP2 calls t665 (All-In), Hero calls t2100 (All-In).Turn: (t7400) 6diamond.gif(3 players, 3 all-in)River: (t7400) Jclub.gif(3 players, 3 all-in)Final Pot: t5675Results in white below: BB has Ah Kc (one pair, aces). MP2 has Ad 4d (one pair, aces). Hero has Qc Ac (one pair, aces). Outcome: BB wins t7400. Actually a pretty interesting spot. I was never afraid of the shorter stack, and open-shove on the flop by the BB was completely counter-intuative to his flat-call PF. The obvious question is: how does AQ with backdoor clubs fare against his range? I've invested < 10% of my stack, he's repping AK or two pair, and I'm not doing fantastic against a pair+FD, and I'm a bit ahead of FDs or SDs...Regardless,I think folding AQ there is ridiculously tight, even facing that action. Just trying to hone my approach and gameplan in these. I hate giving up my seat with so many bad outcomes possible in that situation.

So off to my bad habit: making my wasted tourney dollars back on the o8b cash table:PokerStars 1/2 Omaha/8 (10 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)Preflop: Hero is BB with 4diamond.gif, 8club.gif, 3spade.gif, Aspade.gif. UTG has 5h 3h 2d Ts (Low: 7, 5, 3, 2, A | High: flush, ace high). SB has 4c 5s Jc Jd (Low: 7, 5, 4, 2, A | High: two pair, aces and jacks). Outcome: Hero wins 10 BB. And yeah, kick me hard for no PF raise, even from the BB.

in that $2.20 hand i usually like to have some sort of read on the guy who shoved. did he get his 4k with crap or with big hands that crappy ones paid off? i am admittedly somewhat paranoid with AQ at a full table. if you flopped a LITTLE better, even just a gutshot, it makes it easier.... and i'm still not sure i find the fold button there. his shove feels so counter-value for any real hand, though in hindsight he probably hated how many draws appeared and did the classic scared shove rather than raising to give bad odds. if i was in his spot, i probably check expecting someone to raise, THEN put in the healthy re-raise-- the shortie will probably shove any piece of this flop. the call versus re-raising pf masks the strength of his cards a bit.

That's why I don't mind posting results.I mean, human nature puts *everyone* on AK every hand. I'm just curious as to any hand I can fold out that I'm not essentially flipping a coin with anyways?

I think roughly 99.9% of the pot I managed to get built holding a significant edge. That pot above was the only one where I was essentially flipping a coin going into 7th street.I think I'm gonna stay off cash games and focus on tourneys.. I got some $300 buy in ones at the casino this week that will be deepstacked fun for the whole family.Side note: they have a $120 HORSE tourney that has...rebuys.. no I'm not making that up. Deepstacked horse.. with rebuys..Does not compute...I guess I'm saying there's a $120 HORSE tourney with a huge overlay lol.

in that hand, you call with ten up. if you're familyguy, do you expect a buried A and it pairing on 4th?
Familyguy called a bet on fifth with 2JJ showing in a 3-way pot. Let's not talk about his stategy, k? ;)Family guy was spending his evening giving me the right price to get into coin flips with PJ.Besides, if PJ thinks I paired my ace, he needs to raise 6th and shut me out/make me pay to draw. Oh wait, he still has a rough ten on 6th!... so.. umm.. bad multi-way call, bad multi-way call... then hits miracle miracle and makes the minimum for investing the max.Regardless, I just need to stick to o8b for now.. Razz is far too chaotic, and I don't need be playing stud hi and lhe 40% of the time online. 8 hands just isn't enough time to exploit people. I fold my way through stud8 way too much to be trying to make ground back in Razz/o8b and avoid landmines in checkers studhi/lhe.I was just killing time while railing and the o8b tables had redic waiting lists.
