i don't think i ever limp JTo UTG when 9-handed. what is your plan if he puts in a real raise? you're going to be OOP the rest of the hand. i think you're being somewhat results-oriented after making that straight, and i don't want one lucky hand to make you think limpipng JTo is profitable UTG.

Pf is bad, just fold. Only play JTo at all in this spot once antes kick in and you should always be open raising. After that it's ok I guess.I might just call the min raise since he looks strong and his line is sometimes a set turned boat on river.

I was thinking just now, in a "have been up all night and planning to stay awake for another 18 hours" state about how much I've come on as a poker player these last few months. Looking back on what I used to think and do back at the start of the year it's astounding how far I've come. Even since I started playing very seriously about a month ago, the differences in my game are huge.I'm also aware it's a game which takes a lifetime to master so there will always be things to learn and improve on. If I carry on playing the game who knows where I'll be in a year. Kind of helped me refocus during this horrible run Im going through at the moment. MTTs are such high variance it's disgusting, you don't realise until you've played for a month and hundreds of tournaments without winning a single important race/having overpairs cracked every time it counts just how long the downers can go on for in tournaments. I'm still quite upbeat since I'm positive I'm playing the poker of my life and the only way is up!However, I am running out of time to make it as a player (a naive ambition I know, but I have some confidence). I'm about to enter my last year of university so will be looking to get a 1st class degree and then job/career after that so there simply won't be enough time after this summer to grind like I have been recently. So, after 29th August (the day I go to Europe), if I haven't had a big score ($3k+), I am going to stop playing except on Sundays since this game is taking too much of my life away./end ramble.edit: Gaffer - I kind of know where you're at. There have been times where I've thought I was terrible (last time about 12 hours ago). Just keep studying the game etc and you'll become better fast.

Sigh. I know exactly what you mean buddy. And I think we both have come very far together as players. The added pressure of a deadline might make it that much harder on you. I know you can definitely get that big score. You have the game to do it. And I don't want you to go away either. I wish you nothing but the best!!!!!
