CobaltBlue 662
Frostwire is a pretty decent option for individual songs. If you want whole albums, try uTorrent....once they're downloaded, you just drag them into iTunes.
kidprodigy08 0
thanks. whole albums would be awesome. why would anyone use frostwire or limewire instead of utorrent if they can't download whole albums? what are the downsides?

kidprodigy08 0
i'm not sure about the laws, but is utorrent legal and the others not?
Yoda 1
i'm not sure about the laws, but is utorrent legal and the others not? They are all equally illegal :-PAnd Utorrent is almost as good for individual songs - when you open a torrent you can check/uncheck individual files - so unless it's bundled as a .rar file or something you can just check off the song you want and not bother with the rest. Dirtydutch 8
Two reason why peer-to-peer is sometimes used instead of bittorrent:- Peer-to-peer is a bit faster most of the time, in theory, if you can find what you want.- Bittorrent is a bit more complicated to jump into, if you've never done it. An important detail has been left out by everyone else is that uTorrent is just a good client, and after you download it, it gives you no tools for actually locating the files. For that, you have to find a torrent-get site (I use torrent-finder, mostly, for non-porn), and then find the file(s), and then open them in uTorrent.Keep in mind that in terms of sheer volume, I download far more than anyone of whom I'm aware, and I haven't had a peer-to-peer application on my computer in years. This is because finding every individual song is a pain, and if you've concerned about viruses, peer-to-peer is slightly less safe. (Though neither are unsafe.)

They go after the big fish most the time, not the small ones.

xzanos 0
Note "in theory".I know, I just wanted to brag. When I first started using bittorrent, i found it hard to get good dl speeds. But after tweaking my settings and router, etc, as well as finding an amazing invite-only site, I routinely get amazing speeds.

I use Deluge, now, so I'm out of the loop.I'm also out of the p2p loop, but I never really downloaded single songs, regardless.
CobaltBlue 662
I'm also out of the p2p loop, but I never really downloaded single songs, regardless.I feel less guilty downloading single songs, since I can justify that the artist isn't losing out on an album sale as I would've just gone without. When it's a whole album, I like the idea of "supporting the artist". That said, I think I bought my first CD in a couple years yesterday (random band I saw at a bar).
