I'm confused as to why a guy with bottom set would be willing to put so much money in with 3 hearts on the board and so much raising. This "rule of 7" seems to apply to both players in an unspoken agreement to stop the betting at 7 in order to give the winner the action he wants, while putting a cap on the money the loser will lose. Instead of having a few bet-raise-call scenarios on every street, they just get it all done after the flop. I'm stil confused by it a little bit, but I think I got the basic idea.

Blaze:This is just further proof that Russ G is one crazy mofo. If crazy was an Olympic event, he'd bear the torch.Shane
actually this is an incredible advanced headup concept that almost all great players use (although they may not realize they are using it), and further proof of Russ Georgiev's undeniably vast poker knowledge.

because he has good equity. even if the guy has a made flush (which is hard to put someone on HU) there are plenty of outs to a tight, so he doesnt want to give up on the hand. the whole point of the Rule Of 7 is to slow down the action on the expensive streets (or at least allow the player in position to control it) so that you can get out cheap if you arent good, while ensuring there is a pot to fight for if you are good. The unspoken addition to the rule is that the player in position can extract value if their hand improves, while still being able to obtain a cheap showdown with a marginal hand.
