Well i play a home game with a bunch of people, it's not my home game... but the point is i ABSOLUTELY hate the structure but everyone that plays doesn't seem to mind it...Everyone starts off with 5,000 in chips 20 min blinds , but when it gets heads up blinds change to 15 mins Blinds go like this100/200200/400300/600400/800500/1k1k/2k2k/4kI would like to know your comments on this structure.

You don't want this in general poker. Try posting in Tournament Strategy.I think the setup sucks, unless your goal is to play 5 of them a night. You're starting with 25BB. What's a standard raise in this game preflop? T750? T1000?Once you call a raise preflop, you're almost pot committed. If it's with buddies, for low stakes, and nobody wants to sit out for long - fill your boots.I wouldn't be playing this setup for any "real" money though.

Terrible structure. We have our yearly monsterous summer tourney tomorrow and the structure is as follows which I think is pretty good. Basically a modified 10k event structure but with faster levels so that it can be done in one night and still have manueverability during all stages of play.10k starting stack, 30 min levels until the ante levels which are 20.25/5050/10075/15075/150 w/25 ante100/200 w/25 ante150/300 w/50 ante200/400 w/50 ante250/500 w/75 ante300/600 w/75 anteetc

Basic game strategy dictates that you have to double up within the first 20 minutes if you don't want to be shortstacked going into Level 2 (even if you do double up you'll still only have a medium-stack for the blinds)...which says a lot about the horrendous structure. The structure kills any hope of nuanced small ball games emerging...the preflop raises would be so large that pot commitment becomes a major factor post-flop. The level of play can't really go beyond basic all-in poker; I'd advise finding a better place to improve your game - especially considering the fact that such a structure isn't particularly profitable either.

better to phrase the question as such:Is there a good structure that also gets a 7-20 handed live tourney over in less than 2 hours, while over the long run allowing for a better chance for the better players to make more money than the random player?there....now proceed posters.

I agree that structures like this are great, but how long are your home games? It would take about six hours to play one 9-man SNG at this rate ... I know that my home game generally plays 3-4 hours of cash game, then a turbo SNG at the end of the night that ends in 90 minutes or so ... for most home games (or at least the ones I play in), a structure like this would be far too onerous ... I know I'd be frustrated if I played for four hours and finished on the bubble. Rather play cash games and break even at that point, at least there's some variety there.
