I was at Turning Stone last week, first I played the $70 tournament (capped at 110 people) and then I played $1/2 with my friends that came with me. I was completely card dead in the tournament, and the dealer was so horrible that we were getting very few hands in. I hadn't played a live MTT in a long time and I was really amazed at how bad some of the play was. There were people there with no clue, and unlike online it was very easy--from the way they looked, the things they said, and of course the way they played--tp figure out who was a fish. Anyway, I was a short stack most of the tournament and I busted in 20th place (it paid 10 places). I had J6 in the BB and the blinds were 800/1600 (I had roughly 6500 chips to start the hands). Flop 8 7 2 check, check, check. turn J, first player bets 1600 I move all in, guy behind me calls, original raiser folds. he shows A8, river is obv an A and I'm out.anyway, the question that I have is about the cash game part of the night. I ended up $120 or so, but this hand came up along the way. I limped ($2) with 55, my friend1 made it $12 to go and there were three callers. I decided to fold because at this point I think there might well be an overpair or two out there, and really the only way i can make money is to flop a set. well, the flop is A 3 5. my friend1 made is $50 to go, and my friend2 went allin.....now for the storyAt this point the dealer says to me, sarcastically, NICE FOLD...which shows that he fcking looked at my cards that I folded, which in my view is ridiculous, and what he is saying is inappropriate since the hand is still going on. as it turns out, my friends didn't realize what he was saying until i told them later.back to the hand...friend1 calls, and shows 2d4d for a flopped straight. friend2 has AK, turn is a blank and the river is a 3. so i say to the dealer, once the hand is done, yeah "nice fold" as it turns out i would have put all my money in as a 2-1 dog and i wouldve had to suck out to win the hand. what do you guys think about this? as it turned out that's all i said to the dealer, but in retrospect i think i should have called over the floor manager to report him.***btw, in another poll someone mentioned the empire state poker championships that are coming up. i am willing to think about coming if someone will let me stay in their hotel room, and you'll get a chance to meet me, you can buy me a beer, etc.

Why did you bother to put the tourney part of the trip in? It obviously has no bearing on the cash game story. And yes it was a good fold :club:

"Dun, dun, dun...another post bites the dust!"Gman, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you gave the dealer, and quite possibly the entire table, a reason to dislike you. So to blame the dealer for taking the opp to rip you one when it was presented to him, well, I can't say I blame him for that once he's looked. And I'm guessing if you keep your yapper shut and your ego in check, he never thinks to look at your mucked hand in the first place. Just a hunch...

It TOTALLY 100% depends on what the stacks are. If you each had about $100, then fold is right. If you each have more than 100BBs, then you have the right implied odds to call $10 more, because if a flop comes like the one that did, you are USUALLY gonna win a HUGE pot.

at this point I think there might well be an overpair or two out there, and really the only way i can make money is to flop a set
DUH! That's the whole point. LOLOLOL, and you claim to be the next phenom of poker... :club::D:D

Dealer shouldn't be looking at the mucked cards. I'd call him out, because a good dealer shouldn't be doing this. He could possibly even get fired for this. If the dealer was a genuinely nice guy who goofed, I'd let him know in private and not report. If he was being a **** and/or a bad dealer, I'd report him outright. Your tourney story was pointless...please snip next time. And strategical reasons, your cash game logic is faulty. You said you suspected an overpair so you folded for $10 more with over $40 in the pot already? Mcfly...when you have a hand like 55, you WANT an overpair out there. So that if you hit your set, you can get paid....win a big pot. If hands like AK are out there only, you need them to connect with your set, which is tough and even then, its harder to get paid. The more you suspect a very strong hand in a multi-way pot you are getting 4:1 on, the MORE reason you should be calling preflop. So your cash game logic is backwards, just sayin.

I agree, but this style of playing (which I 100% agree with and follow) is very depedant on your stacks. If he and his buddies only bought in for $100 and have all dwindled down to about $75 at the time of this hand, then he isn't getting the right odds to call to flop a set. If they're all deep stacked, then yes, you obviusly should call EVERYTIME.

this is completely and totally out of line. gman made a post to ask for advice on a controversial incident that happened at a casino. nowhere in the poll did it ask for *** holes to come and flame him. This post was made purely out of baseless speculation and immaturity. What exactly is wrong with the second part of his post? Someone did make a thread about wanting to meet him, he's merely responding with his terms and conditions. I, for one, am getting sick of the merciless beating gmanshade is taking from a good portion of this forum. I'm still puzzled as to why people continuously yell "BAN HIM!" Is it because its the "in" thing to do? GROW UP! Is it because of his Pro Player Energy Drink debacle? So the man did something that was stupid, so what!? If anything that post gave me a good laugh, it didnt inspire me to throw ban-javelins at gman. I applaud him for a good laugh on that one. Regardless of what he might have done in the past, he has already stated that he wants to become a contributing and normal member of this forum. Cut the man some slack.

Wow, some gman clone had too much Pro Player Energy Drink for lunch!BTW, before you accuse, check my posts. I was one of the few who voted for gman to stay for the same reason you did--I thought his PPED thread was funny. But seriously, based on his rep around here these days, do you really think my hunch about why this recent incident MAY have happened is "baseless" or "immature"? This thought doesn't even register in my brain if the post comes from 90+% of the other forum members here. But, sheesh, you gotta admit when it comes to gman, pretty much anything is possible, so why is the possibility of him acting like a self-absorbed a-hole at the tables suddenly so ridiculous? Sorry, but c'mon...it IS a POSSIBILITY. :club:

Dude was a horse's butt on purpose, generally defining the term Troll. Memories die hard. He hasn't earned any "slack".The second part of his post amounts to asking for a stake (ban?). As if people are lining up to let him sleep in their room for free and buy him a beer.On point to the original post - just because a dealer says "Good Fold" does not mean he looked at your hand. He may just have been guessing what you had, or even put you on a lesser hand that was now crushed by the Ace. I have had MANY dealers make a commment like that because they were just making conversation. They really should keep their mouth's shut about your play especially while the hand is still going on and you haven't initiated conversation with them. Don't assume you KNOW what the dealer did unless you actually saw him look at the cards. You call the Floor over on SPECULATION and you are screwing with someone's JOB.

This whole thread is pointless because Gmanshade is not real anyway.
Didn't someone call his existence into question in a different thread? There has been no proof shown yet that he is, in fact, a real person.

It doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Did it really give information to your opponents that would give you a disadvantage. It sounds like half the table were your friends anyway.

It wasn't a big deal. (wasn't right, but not a big deal either since it had no bearing on the hand and, apparently, no one else at the table was paying attention anyway)gman is just a whiny little ***** that that thinks the world of himself and that everyone else should bow to his greatness.BAN
