FileError404 0
I am also trying a new thing, I am bringing no cigars with me.Great Idea, because there is no way you can buy a cigar on a cruise... Enjoy your Vac!
SBriand 4
If it is still there the Erotica Museum is good. It's like 6 floors of porn. Each floor is a decade and then the top floor was just a wall of TV's each with a different hardcore porn showing. It was hilarious seeing grandparents with their grandchildren walking through it. If you don't drink then I wouldn't bother with Simon Hus. Maybe for pub like food though if you go around dinner time. Sadly the best parts of Denmark are out of Copenhagen. I lived there for a few months each year for 3 doing some archeology digs. Great country, great people.Oh! And get a Fransk Hot dog!!!! Oh, I gotta get back there.

Balloon guy 158
Just left Helsinki. Fins are nice people. On our way to Stokholm, hoping I can meet up with Zeatrix, if not we'll see the sites.Played poker last night. $3/$6. Brutal on so many levels. For example, I got sup0er loose trying to make something happens, limped with the other 8 people with K5 spades. Flop K 7 9, 4 limpers, I bet 6 callers. Turn J, I bet 4 callers. River 4- I check, one guy bets, 2 callers and I'm thinking no way my K is good because of the stupid kicker, so I fold. TWO GUYS SPLIT with ace highs. 2 guys called a river bet and couldn't beat ace high.It gets worse, but at $.50 a minute I'll tell you about it when I get back. This ship's internet is slow and expensive.Feeling rich though after Russia.. average salary $100 a month according to guide. Seems odd.

Balloon guy 158
90% trip report.Figured there was no reason to waste valuable interweb space with another new thread so I'll finish off this thread with the majority of this fun vacation. I am staying in Copenhagen for a few days to see the town, so that's why I can't give you the whole report. So day one we fly from Ontario California, to Atlanta, which is socked in so we divert to Birmingham, refuel, head back and land 3 hours late to Atlanta. Run to our connection which we ake with 5 minutes to spare so I feel dumb for running. Atlanta to Cincinatti, to Amsterdam, 4 hours in Amsterdam, then copenhagen. Our luggage is lost, we don't get it till the 4th day of our cruise when we are in Poland. So I have two shirts, two pair of underwear, two socks, and shorts for 4 days. Nothing really different than home for the most part.Cruise ship is Star Princess..nice ship, not as nice as some of the Royal Cariibean we've been on.Ports: Oslo: Learned funny story how the Vikings raided France and the French had to pay them to leave. Man have the French EVER been good fighters?Poland: Poor country, lots of history. I liked Poland overall. Mitchner has a good book on Poland I read a few years ago.Estonia: Funny but I would bet 80% of Americans have never heard of Estonia, and 98% could not find it on a map. I really enjoyed this country, and not just because they had a really good cigar store. The cars around town gave away that this country is doing much better than Poland and their history is interesting.Russia: St Petersberg was incredible. But sad at the same time. Their history is as tragic as it is full. The opulance of the past makes most of the world look like they are cheap step children of the Russians. Unfortunately they have a difficult road ahead to escape their communist past. Our driver lived from Stalin days, and her life story shared in the tragedy of Russia. From being brain washed to think they were better off even though they couldn't get fruit except for 2-3 times a month, to now having full markets, but such low wages that they have a hard time affording it. I don't know which is worse, not even having an option, or not being able to afford the option. Hopefully they will triumph and become rich and ignorant like us Americans!!Oh and the Russian girls are very good looking. As long as you don't mind serious body odor. I think bathing is still an evil western decadent practice to them.Finland: Beautiful, but not exactly a tourist destination. The islands leading into Finland with the vacation homes were some of the most beautiful I've ever seen.Stockholm: By far the most beautiful city of the entire trip. We had a very short stay, but the town was great. And I met up with Zeatrix for a couple hours. He and his fiance (total babe) walked around with us and answered our questions, then helped us order a light lunch before we all got soaked trying to catch our transport back to the ship. I expect Zeatrix will do well in life. Hope they can make it out to Palm Springs so I can return the favor.Copenhagen: Just got here, waiting for luggage before we walk into town. We are going to site see for 2 days then head back on Friday.Oh and good news, I got a 5 day fishing trip to Alaska worked out with my son in 2 weeks. Good because I didn't know what I was going to do from our return till we head to Maui for a week.So Gambling:Cruise ship casino was like all of them, terrible odds, and no competition. So first night my wife sees a $.02 slot machine that has a BMW as the grand prize. She falls in love with this bank and since she never gambles, I am all for encouraging her to have fun. She does understand why you have to max bet, so $1.80 per spin on this $.02 machine and away she goes. She gets a kick out of letting the wins trickle in instead of just hitting a button and having the whole amount creditted at once. So everytime she hits I get to watch her $8 win take a good 45 seconds to credit her. Oh well. She hits for $100..5,000 credits, so she's happy. I have been standing behind her the whole time, but I can't take this one so I turn to a $1 machine and deposit $40. Before she finishes I hit for $800. Took me about 6 rolls and she is still all happy about her win, so I act like this is nothing. She comes over and her mouth drops open. We get our money and head to dinner. The rest of the cruise she is throwing $20 into the machine to win her BMW ( I am totalling rooting for this since she wants me to get her a new SL500 so a BMW would be really useful to delay that purchase.) I play about $100 more in slots, but mostly just encourage her to play.Slots totals: +$600Poker table: I ended up only playing the one night. Pure insanity and I never got one premium hand in 3 hours. Lost $230 playing $3/$6 because I got sucked into playing ATC poker along with everyone else, and I suck at calling the river with ace high so I have no chance in this style of game.Poker Total - $230Blackjack: I am really liking this new stategy of betting $10, and pressing the win to $20 for the next bet. On the 2nd hand I am playing $10 of mine to win $30 of thiers. When I double my $100 I walk. 4 nights I win 3 out of 4 times, so up $200, then I hit the bad run and lost. Broke into my mad money and lost $300 more.Black Jack Totals: -$400Craps: I know..stay away from craps...I didn't Got into an argument with the dealers when they paid my come bet, but didn't remove the bet?? Guy next to me was playing the same way;Pass line and 2 come bets with odds on everything. He also was paid but his bet was not returned. The guy treated it like a number bet, which 4 other guys were playing. So when the roller crapped out I pointed out that they didn't return my bet, 2 minutes later they couldn't understand, and I was guilty of not speaking up immediately, but you know how fast craps can be..didn't really matter, I lost it all anyway.Craps Total: -$400So over all loser, but not by much. I watched a guy for a while playing $100 chips on the roulette table. He pocketed the $1,000 chips they gave him and played the blacks like they were ones. They had to send for 2 full racks of blacks to cover his wins. When I left he had a full rack of blacks, who knows how much in his pockets, and half the board covered. The number came up and he had a full, 2 splits, and 2 corners....I heard later he lost it all to the tune of 5 figures. CrazyWhen it was all said and done the only regret is that I lost most of my mad money and I am in the hotel connected to the casino in Copenhagen and they spread poker etc. I'll see if I can get down there with $300 and see if it's enough to even play anything.I only smoked 4 cigars..okay maybe 5, but that was because last night I had 2. FWP got banned?
Balloon guy 158
Just spent my second day in Copenhagen. My wife and I got a on/off bus pass and toured the city. Walked the main road, shopped, ate in pubs, had a cuban cigar, then she headed back to the hotel while I went to watch the Homeless World Cup which is playing in Copenhagen now.Yep, these players had to have been homeless in the last year in order to play for their team. 50 teams for 50 different countries. I watched the Canadian team get their tails whipped by Slovania, Canada looked really bad and their goalie was the worst. Or so I thought. The goalies were by far the biggest collection of misfits and were the obvious choice of where to put the player when they couldn't tie their own shoe. Seriously, one team had to have a player tie the shoe of the goalie. Might have been because he was too fat, but I'm not sure. There were goalies that were in their 60's plus and didn't bend all the way to the ground. The playing field was a very small arena style field, with a large semi circle where the goalie was the only one allowed. 2 Seven minute halves, 4 games a day each team. I don't know how many days.I'm watching from the top of the bleachers, great seats until the Argentinians decide to join me. They feel the need to sign Argentina fight songs in order to root for which ever team speaks Spanish. They are jumping up and down and I am just waiting for these bleachers to give way so I can make CNN as the hapless American crushed by the Argentina homeless team.Little did I know I was going to miss them when they left. The were replaced by the homeless cheer squad. These drunken Copenhagens hadn't showered since the last rain, and someone was dumb enough to buy them beer, lots of it. One guy passed out, the rest decided to wave their beer over my heads and shout for Wales, then Argentina, then Wales, then Argentina. I was really stuck because you can't exactly beat up a homeless guy for spilling beer on you at the Homeless World Cup can you? Luckily they decided to take their passed out friend to the street to use him to invoke sympathy while they panned for coins.I waited to watch team USA go against Greece. Both teams were 3-0 going into this match so I was hoping for a good match. I guess the best way to describe team USA is to imagine 5 basketball players from the streets of New York being told if they learn to play Soccer they will get a free trip to Copenhagen. These guys made 3/4 field goals, the goalie made great saves, but you never felt they were working the ball, more like taking shots. Greece had a little more finess, but when they scored a goal for USA by overzealously kicking it to the goalie, they gave USA the lead at 5-4 with under 1 minute to play. Greece made a goal, and USA answered with a great pass downfield, followed by a stinging kick that bounced off the post and left the teams tied 5-5. Greece made their first kick off, and USA got blocked. Win to the Greeks. All in all a fun day of watching soccer, while smelling things that humans shouldn't have to smell. Whoever thought about having homeless people build up a sweat, and then not give them immediate showers should be forced to sit in the bleachers with team Argentina for 2 hours. The finals are August 4th, so I'll have to catch the final game on ESPN 8 the Ocho. Merby 3
Great trip report BG,I am guilty of not even knowing about the "homeless World Cup" until your post. Seeing as I am Canadian and our on-ice prowess does not at all transfer to the soccer field, I don't know who I would be cheering.I should add the obligatory, "Craps is evil" comment --even though you seem to be aware of this fact already.Enjoy the rest of your trip.Cheers,Merby
SBriand 4
I'm so jealous. I have been many places in the world and Denmark was by far my #1 place. The people there are very cool and the city is awesome, chicks are hot, and the country side is amazing. Tons of Viking Burial Mounds all over the place, lots of history. I feel blessed to have gotten to spend the time I had there for those few years doing the archeology digs.
antistuff 0
That's what you get for using the expensive Carbon Graphite Chips......good for bicycle racing, bad for poker chips. On a related note, the other night I saw a guy put a poker chip in his mouth and I nearly puked at the table. I saw one drop in a beer once and the guy pulled it out wiped it on his pants leg and shuffled it into his stack... and drank the beer. Luckily I wash my hands BEFORE (and after) going to the rest room. Think about the last hundred things you touched being one degree of separation from your privates. I'm gonna start wearing rubber gloves when I play live.is there something wrong with me that things like this dont bother me at all?

Thx man Kind of a universal chick trait isn't it? The good ones can't accept how beautiful they are. Never hard for guys like you and me right?Mostly done with Copenhagen, walked the whole city today, road the tour bus one more time, saw the Danish resistance musuem, watched the changing of the guard, etc. Full tourist thing. Fly out early tomorrow, but we may still go see Trivoli at night, a 160+ year old amusement park. One thing is for sure this town can be expensive. A coke today in a restaurant cost me $8 US, and the pay per view movie in the hotel room? $25. Beers my wife drank in 2 different restaurants were over $7 each and I couldn't make myself pay $12 for a Burger King Whopper meal, so I ate chinese. But overall what an awesome city.Full day of travel tomorrow then it's home to the 110 degree desert sun...CANNOT WAIT. Feel like my blood is thickening. Plus I am really looking forward to a good cigar that cost less than $20 US. Okay I'm just looking forward to cigars. I mostly kept my promise to my wife and only had 6 cigars total for 2 weeks. That's about 12 less than normal, so I saved enough money to pay for a whole six pack of cokes in Copenhagen, maybe
