Any Chance You Can Quit Complaining About Tunica?

Recommended Posts

I like DN and appreciate the things he's done and tried to do for a lot of the people who frequent this site. I agree Tunica isn't ever going to match Vegas or just about any other city/town that has a casino. But for us commoners Tunica is a good place to go where you can be treated great. Tunica blows away Vegas as far as comps for the standard player. Try walking into a Vegas casino and ask for a poker rate or a buffet before even sitting down to the table and see what happens. For 95% of all poker players Tunica is as good as any other place. If you're there just to play poker and you aren't playing real high limits it's perfect. If Tuncia is just so bad DN then skip the trip. After all it has been terrible for you.In all seriousness can't you bring in enough quality food for you or have an assistant run up to Memphis to get something that will please you? After hearing you complain about it 2 or 3 years ago I contacted Patti (I think it was) and offered to either bring you some stuff from Memphis or give you the numbers to places that would suit you.I'll proably regret making this post after all the people bash me. But I've been coming to this site for quite some time and even though Tunica isn't the best place I've ever been it gets old hearing people complain about it so much. Especially when people go outside talking about the quality of food etc and start talking about how everyone in Tunica is obese etc.

I've been to Tunica 5-6 times, and I :club: Tunica. Been to Vegas lots too, and love it there......it's a different experience than Tunica for sure but I still heart Tunica for what it is. Just throwing out a little e-val for ya on Tunica. B)

I dont have to worry about a poker room rate. I just stay at the grand. Nice hotel and usually a better rate than playing several hours at cash games. I mostly play tourneys. I just wish there was more than NL and a rare smattering of Omaha down there. Of course thats my main complaint about Vegas.

Don't think anyones gonna bash ya Nick. We all have pride in where we live. But we all know what Daniel is really talking about when he addresses Tunica....the food. Which I'll bet is dammm GOOD btw. I've been all over the south and I dare say it is some of the tastiest artery cloggin eats this country has to offer. But if I remember right Daniel has never said a bad thing about the folks there or whatever. :club:

Well sometimes too much honesty can't be all good. I remember DN saying something like "everyone down here is like 200lbs overweight". I guess truth hurts in all but even when I was in great shape I would have never talked about an entire community that way. Maybe we all have that gland problem :club:

For me (and many other people I assume) the Tunica buffet is better than many Vegas ones. I was at the Bellagio buffet, paid $27 and there wasn't anything there that the Shoe didn't have. But I can honestly see why some people would like the Bellagio better. They had champagne, a lot more fruit, and it was nicer looking. But free at the Show is better.

Couldn't agree more.

I've been to Tunica once and Vegas twice and I have yet to find anything to beat the buffet at Horseshoe! I'm guessing it's a matter of taste, but being from TN myself, I'll take prime rib over sushi any day of the week. I took my Mom and her sister to Memphis for a mini Elvis vacation and my sister and I snuck off to Tunica one evening. Didn't know squat about the area and the side trip was spur of the moment, so I just asked the guy at the gate of our hotel how to get to Tunica. He pointed us in the right direction and the ONLY disappointing part was that I assumed the casinos would all be together. We stopped at the group where Horseshoe was and we were treated so well at Horseshoe that I can't even remember the names of the other two casinos there! If it wasn't a 10 hour car ride, I'd be heading to Tunica every weekend to get my gambling fix! My own humble opinion.........don't complain about decent gambling if you're choices are better than Harrah's Cherokee! That place really bites!

I agree sometime daniel speaks his mind without thinking twice... and at times he will alienate a larger section then normal... And if he did say that a particular section of America is larger because of better food or unhealthy food.... that is very poor on himself to judge the whole on just a few visits.... I lived in Vegas and think over all they are rude up there.... but after thinking of it.... its not las vegans its the tourist.... So i dont just them over a select few.... Im sure tunica is great food because if daniel doesnt like it more then likely 80 percent of america will.... because unlike daniel we do like cow hooves.... :club:
