duckie143 0
wow..all this typing...hope someone is generous and gives me a 4.40 stake..PS duckie143..ok so it goes on.....Bluff: So how about giving some of those names? (the ones he monitors)SBRugby: (laughs) Nope SorryBluff: On that note, Who do you consider the best players online?SBRugby: Well, David Benyamine ia a great PLO player. Patrik is very strong. Durrr does very well, Taylor Caby: there are lot of verygood players, alot of guys that people don't know about. Urindanger on Full Tilt is very good.Bluff: Is there any player that you designed you game after? A mentor of sorts.SBRugby: If anybody, I guess it would be Taylor Caby. His videos helped my game enormously. I have read almost book that has come out on poker and read the forums constantly.Bluff: We touched briefly on your time on HIGH STAKES POKER. In your opinion, how easy is it to transition from online game to the live game?SBRugby: I think people overemphasize the difference between the two. Its reallt the same game. Its not some magical entity where you are reading some players soul. Your opponent has a range of hands and you have a hand. You have to calculate how much equaity you have versus your opponents hand range. i dont think there is much of a difference.Bluff: How did you like playing those guys live? Was there anyone in particular you were earger to play?SBRugby: For one, You dont get that many hands when you play in that game. The TV slows everything down. The High Stakes Poker lineup, I would love to play in that game very day if I could. It was a very good game. Then they talk about the WSOP and if he plans to play..50k horse..side games are not big enough at thr RIO...what he like to do on his relax time...few other questions that were pretty boring or standard PRO questions...hope you enjoyed it...I hunt and pecked my way through

anselm 0
That donkey monitor is solely there to alert Brian to when noataima or Benyamine sit down NLHE.As for the big game, Brian's been stuck a million before I'm sure he'll be able to manage. He's still up a ridiculous amount from his Vegas sessions.
juggalo41729 0
Ty for typing that whole article for us. You pwn.
Sunny 0
I *think* Brian is up around 2mil from the game since it started? Regardless, when he first started playing one of his cardrunners buddies said he was willing to lose 2mil in that game, so 2 mil + (2mil?) in winnings means he may be willing to take a 4mil swing. rogerwilco 0
I *think* Brian is up around 2mil from the game since it started? Not anymore I guess. Brian Townsend blogJuly 14, 2007 Caught bluffingJust got caught bluffing in a pot over 1.8 million dollars against Bobby Baldwin. I actaully had to get up and leave the table I was so tilted. I have to give Bobby credit he out played me. I will describe the hand tomorrow when I am feeling better. I don't even know how much I ended down since I just had the poker room manager rack up for me, but I would guess between 700 and 800K. I may go home tomorrow as well. I have been in Vegas for 2 weeks now and am very homesick. I thought I wouldn't leave Vegas until this game was done but I really dont' want to be here right now.
xmykro 0
Not anymore I guess. Brian Townsend blog OUCH! He's going back to Santa Barbara with his tail between his legs.
Jeepster80125 0
Wasn't Townsend up about 5-7 mil earlier in the month? I know Farha had lost about 5 mil by June 14th, don't know if it was all to SBRugby.Anyway, Townsend was seen buying two six figure Rolexes in cash in the last 24 hours, so I think the stories of him being anywhere CLOSE to busto are greatly exagerrated.I was totally going to call bullshit on this one, but then I see who posted it.Carry on. NoSup4U 0
Correct me if I am wrong but wasnt Townsend a rich kid before poker? Not taking anything awy from his termendous game but there is a diffrence if you can lose a mill and just go get some more from a trust fund.I don't understand where everyone gets this? He started at .25/.50 and worked his way up. Same with Durrr. I don't know how much money either had before poker, but it isn't like they just jumped right in.sbrugby is well documented as saying that he practiced great bankroll management and never moved up a level until he had at least 20 buyins or something for the next level.Mark

I was just responding to the op's comparison of Daniel losing a million in the big game and staying away and Brian jumping right back in. You have to admit that poker is easier to play if you have no threat of being homeless.

I thought you were saying he had tons of money a couple years ago when he started out and just jumped into bigger games with no threat of going broke, which wasn't the case.Carry on :)Mark
Craigdog 0
He's just had another session which lost him at least $800,000, mostly to Bobby Baldwin when he got caught on a bluff!! Read his blog on cardrunners.comTime to leave town me thinks!

So, it would seem he made his wealth from becoming a top poker player.
duckie143 0
"In two days I had lost 2.2 million dollars and I wasn't feeling too happy"i wish I had the .2"I actually really enjoy playing live as a change of pace from online. Things I love about the live game are 1) The games were amazing. Online is so much tougher. You still have the Phil Ivey's and Patrick antonius's live but you get billionaires who have sold their businesses who are looking to have some fun. You do get some of this online but not nearly to the extent. They have no problem sitting and dropping a million or two. This also attracts the weaker pros to games they may not have as much experience in making the games that much softer. Online you don't get this as much since most of these billionaires bring money to gamble with to the casino but online they have to deposit and see how much they are losing. It's much easier to forget your losses live. 2) I love being weighted on hand and foot. When you have a suite at the Bellagio everything you need is right at your finger tips. Also the poker room managers get and take care of anything you need. It's very nice and convenient. 3) The people. You meet some very successful people when playing high stakes poker. It is great networking as well as idea builders. Sitting with some of these guys made me realize how limited poker is. Not that I am not happy with what I do. I also make more money than I personally will ever need. But you will never be a billionaire from playing poker and interacting with some of these guys made me realize how much money there is to be made. I don't' necessarily need to make that much but its good to be cognizant of the possibility. 4) The girls. Santa Barbara has amazing women but when their is a lot of money around beautiful women always seem to show up. Wow, their were some smoking women coming and going. \"girls are last...atleast he has his priorities right...is weighted right? isnt it waited..like waiter?..i dont know
