jmbreslin 0
I feel almost embarrassed to be asking this, but does anyone play the really micro limits...like .02-.05 NLHE? I've been playing them a bit lately because I wanted to see how I could do at a cash game with the same buy-in amount as the $5.50 SnGs I play. I'm shocked at how tight and passive the play is at such a micro limit.

Snamuh 0
I spent about a month playing .02/.05 and .05/.10 to start off my roll. Don't feel embarassed. I feel that by putting in the hard work here and "paying your dues," it will help you become a better cash game player. You learn about BR management as well.
litlebullet 0
lol i have a buddy who was 12 tabling .01/.02 on stars he was basically making a stack a orbit
Money022 0
I started out on Stars with a $25 deposit at the beginning of the year playing .02/.05 NLHE and have worked my way up to $.25/$.50 NLHE with a healthy bankroll around $2k. You have to start somewhere. Dont be embarrassed, be happy that you're managing your BR and playing smart. Too many players get in over their head and play limits they're not rolled for and bust time and time again. Grind it out and work your way up.
jmbreslin 0
Thanks, guys, I don't feel so silly anymore. Any advice on playing at that level? (Stars, by the way). From what I've seen the play is so tight and cautious that people tend to limp and trap with their big hands rather than raising. The blinds at this level just aren't worth stealing, so it seems like real ABC holdem. Play your good hands well and you'll do fine. Is that a fair assessment?

I remember not having enough to buy-in to a third table when I started.I think you should prove you can beat the lowest levels available before moving up.You can bluff at penny, but only when your opponents have nothing they want to play. I started with 50 bucks and played $5 SNGs and microlimits and just grinded from there. Just play TAG poker basically and don't get fancy at those limits. Use good bankroll management and don't take ridiculous shots.

Can anyone say spew?So am I the only one that thinks these two statements are way off. I am constantly opening pots from late position when folded to in an attempt to "steal" the blinds. That being said I wouldn't try it much at .01/.02 or .02/.05 on pokerstars as the play is usually very loose. On ultimatebet though the micro limit players tend to play a little bit tighter. There were days when I first started playing NL at the .01/.02 level, after a free $10 put in my account, that I could run the table over by playing aggerssive even at the lowest of limits. wsox8 10
I've noticed from my many hands at low limits on stars that people seems to play very tight. I was surprised to see it a few years ago and still today.

You raise from the button or CO because you want to play reasonable hands in position, not to simply take down the blinds.

That means on average there are only 3-4 players seeing the flop at a full table. I thought play at this level would be much looser, like the cash equivalent of the $1.20 SnGs. I definitely raise with position with a wider range, but it's not because I want to only pick up the blinds. I have position which is a pretty big edge and use that to my advantage. I've been playing a lot of 6 max lately and I'll start reraising players who constantly raise from the button/CO if I'm in the blinds. Somtimes I'll just call from the blinds and check raise them on the flop just to pick them off. That usually shuts them down pretty quick

CobaltBlue 662
And now Cobalt is an internet legend losing thousands and thousands a day in the big stakes.Quite. Seriously though...I remember a couple of years ago when there was some thread in General pointing to some 2+2 thread. In it, they were talking about biggest losses. One guy said something along the lines of, "One day, I hope I'm to the point where I can lose $10k in a day." I thought that was pretty insightful and an optimistic way to look at future losses. I haven't quite hit that mark yet...though I'm certainly closing in. I'm sure it'll happen eventually.
