Swift_Psycho 1
Thanks a lot for sharing these hands and opening yourself up to plenty of potential criticism by doing so. Great job, Kurt, hope you get another shot at something like this again.

But Yeah, she's in the same league as Phil Hellmuth- they're HAPPY to be poker celebrities. they like the attention.I can't say anything, though, since I'd do a lap around the room saying hey to people I know too, if I was of Phil's calibur. KDawgCometh 2
Damn your table sucked. the five high flush draw is what Oppenheim does from all of the stories that I've heard of him. As you experienced he is hyperaggressive and makes life difficult for people. That's cool though that you played and you did pretty well, it sucks busting out on the first dya, but then again how many of us were there with you, exactly. I've heard that TJ has some wild stories from his road days so I bet you heard a couple of them

missIdaho 1
No matter how painful it was, I would be proud if I were you. Just getting there was an accomplishment. You proabably held your own at that table than most of us amateurs would have.Better luck next time :-)
benhoug 0
First off: congratulations on making it into the tournament and lasting deep into the day. But I have a question - why all the check-raising? After reading about a few of your hands from the tournament it seems like you were trying to check-raise at every possible opportunity. I think the beauty of the check-raise is using it sparingly. Obviously there are a million factors that weigh into how we play our hands, and I'm not privy to all of those for this tournament situation, but it seems to me that if you had played some of the hands more straight-forwardly you could have seen different results. If everyone at the table knows you're prone to check-raising they'll take the play away from you by checking behind you.

If everyone at the table knows you're prone to check-raising they'll take the play away from you by checking behind you.I really think they figured me to be playing straight up for the most part. The c/r's that I mentioned were the only times I did it. Every other hand I was just betting out when I had the lead preflop and hit the flop. If I missed and figured someone else hit, i was check folding most of the time. The times I check raised, I was trying to really come off strong and win the pots without too much trouble. The AQ hand especially... I wanted to show a lot of strength because I called the re-raise preflop. Then I did hit one of my cards... I just wish it was the other one. But I expected him to bet it either way, so I wanted to take the lead. Just happened to get unlucky against KK. He did back down though, and just called me down. Good play on his part. I could have easily had a set of Q's or AA.
Absolute 0
Man you drew an absolutely killer table.Probably one of the hardest tables that day.Boston, Appleman, Hansen, Oppenheim and Mizrachi.Thats sick.

It went pretty late, and he just got there for dessert. So we didn't talk a ton, but he did have some funny things to add.

But Mizrachi hardly said a word, and although I reconized him a little... I couldn't place him. Definitely a strong presence at the table though, he's a pretty big guy, and when he was in the pot he was playing strong.

If he hadn't hit the heart on the river he was out a lot of chips, wasn't he? Don't you have to hit on this kind of thing fairly often to make it work?
