Espn H.o.r.s.e. Coverage

Recommended Posts

I was just looking at ESPN's TV schedule for this year's WSOP. People have said that showing H.O.R.S.E. on television is a bad idea. ESPN is not just showing one hour, or even two as they did last year, but they are showing six full hours of the $50k H.O.R.S.E. tournament this year. Three straight weeks of H.O.R.S.E. coverage. They are even saving it for after they air the ME.

Will it be broadcast in HDTV? Your run-of-the-mill Freddy Deeb shirt might be the first true benchmark test of HDTV in our generation.

Joke?
Why would it be a joke? Last years $50K HORSE was a NLH final table.Thankfully this year they changed it after someone decided that maybe the American public can stomach watching a different type of poker from time to time.

im so sick of everyone bitching about last year's horse final table, the PROS suggested it, it adds another element to the tournament, winner of that tournament was supposed to be the best all around player, who can you determine that with zero no limit play

Actually, the winner of *that* tournament was supposed to be the winner of a H.O.R.S.E. tournament... thats what the event was called, thats how it should be played. You wanna have an "All Around Player" Tournament? Cool. Call it that. AND, it would probably be a good idea to have NL in it before the FT so that everyone gets a chance to play all the games, since its the 'every game tournament'...

Or better yet, you could have a bunch of tournaments featuring all sorts of different games. You could award points to the top finishers in every game, and use the points to determine who is the best all around poker player for the world series in that year. Hmmm...what would we call that award? Something to do with being the player of the year at the World Series I suppose, but I'm drawing a blank here...

If you are suppose to be testing all around poker ability then you should definitely have some no limit and/or pot limit games mixed in. It would be nice to see some no limit hold em and pot limit omaha since those are probably the most popular games. Just because H.O.R.S.E spells out a word doesn't mean that those are the only games you should play. Three out of the five games are stud.

i was reiterating what professionals were saying about the tournament, you know, the people that actually PLAYED in the tournament, not people that just watch it on TV and ***** about the NLH final table.

Yes. YOU (a person who watches it on TV) were upset with the pros (the poeple who PLAY the event) for voicing their distaste in playing NLHE at the FT of a HORSE tournament...

i think you are confused, show me one quote from a pro who was upset about NLHE at the final table. Everything I read from the pros is that it was a great idea and they supported it 100%

Mr. Shane what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Only a few years back, you could ONLY find stud games in casino poker rooms. I guarantee if you asked some "pre-poker-boom" pros if they prefer Stud to Hold Em, the vast majority would say yes... And maybe even DN can give his two cents, because he's been quite vocal about his preference for non-hold em games. Why "would it be nice" to see more hold em on TV? Do you not get enough of it with every other TV show out there? Having any sort of NL or PL element to te HORSE tourney would be lame because at any time a player can get taken out, nullifying everything he did prior to busting out. The HORSE tourney is designed to be a true grind, meaning that the winner will have to display a consistently high level of play in all games for the entire duration of the tourney, not just getting lucky on one huge NL hand, then fold-fold-fold until NHLE comes around again. And the fact that the past two winners of the $50K HORSE tourney are two of the most skilled and revered players in the game only gives more credibility to the tournament's prestige and meaning. If all you care about is NLHE, then does that mean you think Jamie Gold is a better poker player than Freddy Deeb? For the sake of mankind, I hope you say no.

Can we add another 's' at the end (SHITBATHS), with the 's' being no limit Sudoku?
