Cappy37 0
From that interview: You've thrown me off my game. So, how do you think Harrah's is running the Series so farThere's a lot of things that need straightening out, I think. I don't like this sequestered tent where you can't see the final; I don't think that's very fair. I don't like the way the prize money is being diluted, you know, spread out to so many people. It's great for Harrah's because the more people that get money, they can enter more tournaments and satellites and they can spend it in the casinos but I don't think it's great for poker players - especially ones that are getting backed, you know? There's a lot of poker players who have supported the poker world for the past 12, 15, 20 years who rely on backers. And if there's no money on the final table because it's all being spread out, we're going to run out of backers, you know? I don't have a backer anyway, so it doesn't affect me, but you see my point. Interesting point. I thought the FT payouts seemed a bit lighter than last year, I just wrote it off to there being more events. Example #3,872 of how Harrah's is catering to the bottom line rather than the players? Or is this actually in the spirit of the game in a way, cashing more spots, with a more even distribution? Or is this actually in the spirit of the game in a way, cashing more spots, with a more even distribution? This was done on purpose. They spread the cash out to pay the lower end of the scale more money, thus allowing them more money to blow on sats and other casino games. I sucks if you play to win, not just to cash. For instance, last year the first $1500 event had 2780 players, and first paid $780K. 8th paid $88K. This year, the event had over 200 MORE players, and first paid $60K less, and 8th paid $30K less I think.IMO thats a HUGE difference. 200 more players, and the people at the final table are really not making insaneo money anymore. $30K for that 8th place person is a big deal I think. On the flip side, last year I think the bottom of the pay scale made $1700, and this year it was like $3200 maybe? So those people that just squeek into the cash have an extra grand plus.Mark
